Laptops from dell outlet?
Hi there I'm wondering if the laptops from the dell outlet range are good and worth the money? And if so then should I look at just buying the "certified refurbished" or "scratch and dent ones" or are both fine? If anyone has any good or bad experience with the dell outlet range then it would be much appreciated.

Re: Laptops from dell outlet?
Hi Missmayi,
I have ordered two systems from the outlet and both are still in use months later. I had a good experience with them so far. My Dell Mini 1012 is with my mother and she's using it trouble free since July and I ordered this 17R 2nd gen laptop in July when I had given her my little blue wonder. I know there are some people here who've ordered both Certified refurbs like I did but also got scratch & dent's without problems. You can check out a lot of people's thoughts on this subject in the thread I started earlier at the beginning of this year here:
What do you think of Outlet deals?
I think this thread will have the feedback you're seeking Missmayi. Good luck! I know I totally LOVE my 17R and my mother LOVES her 1012. I will say that if you're looking for a netbook get it NOW because they've taken them OFF the main site, because they aren't going to make them anymore, not sure what they will put in it's place either, but just wanted to give you a heads up in case that was the kind of system you were looking for. Hope this helps.

Re: Laptops from dell outlet?
Certified Refurbished and Scratch&dent both had little bits of scratches and dents for me.
The scratch & dents are usually cheaper, I suggest you jump on the scratch&dent if there are any.

Re: Laptops from dell outlet?
My experience with DELL's outlet, is extremely good. I got an XPS17 for £480 that was "scratch and dent" and it looked brand new, apart from a tiny nick on the lid that was about 2mm is length.
the outlet site is an amazing place to grab a bargin.Desktop: 21.5" (1920x1080) | i7 920 D0 @ 3.8Ghz | Gigabyte EX58 UD5 | GTX 460 1GB | 6GB DDR3 1600Mhz | 2x250GB RAID0

Re: Laptops from dell outlet?
Mine lasted for years..the one that broke was my own fault for spilling things on it. Last I bought was a desktop from the outlet about a year ago and it still works perfectly.

I also bought a Dell outlet one year ago. I'm pretty happy with it and I have no problems.

I've bought a ton of systems from the Dell Outlet and recommend it. I like getting my system faster rather than having to wait for the build process.

Re: Laptops from dell outlet?
I bought a laptop that came without the backlit keyboard. Replacement 1 was missing the 1600x900 screen. Replacement 2 came with a bad LCD. Replacement 3 was missing the backlit keyboard. Final replacement was "Outlet New" and had SSD instead of HDD and I kept it
It took over a month from the original date of order and many emails and phone calls to Dell, in the end however, they made things alright. So if you're not in a big hurry and are willing to be persistent, you can get a great deal.E6420 Win 7 Pro 64-bit | i5-2520M | 4GB DDR3 | 256GB SSD | Intel HD 3000 | 14" HD+

Re: Laptops from dell outlet?
12 great latitudes and 5 great optiplexs from the outlet. Had 1 horrid latitude I had to return. Dell support all but accused me of theft. I returned it. Had 2 latitudes with some kind of faulty warranty (always purchase the 3 year NBD warranty). First I returned. The last one support told me I have to call Dell Outlet to activate warranty, if there is a warranty problem, it happens sometimes. Support went ahead and correct the warranty issue.
Love Dell hardware. Most of business support is good. Server support is AWESOME! Please have server support train the rest, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ( they make home support look horrible). Not a fan of the included software. Hopefully the paid for software is worth it. One day we might actually purchase some Dell management software.
