Will any USB mouse work on a Dell E1505?
I am looking a mouse for my Dell notebook E1505, but I want one that doesn't require any installation (plug and play), no drivers to mess with, cheap, well-built, and portable. Any suggestions?
If I just buy any USB mouse on the market, will it work extremely well with my laptop without causing the BSOD?Dell E1505 | Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 | Intel Core Duo T2400 1.83GHz 667MHz | 1GB 533MHz SDRAM | 9-cell battery | 15.4 Wide Screen XGA Display | 80GB SATA Hard Drive | 8X CD/DVD Burner

Re: Will any USB mouse work on a Dell E1505?
Majority of mice offer basic functions using the plug and play driver, and their own driver for custom functions like added buttons.
Your issue how ever is one with windows, the problems you are trying to avoid could happen on any PC.
And you will never avoid drivers.

Re: Will any USB mouse work on a Dell E1505?
I ended up buying a Logitech V200. I just installed the battery, and attached the USB 'key'.
Done.
Not the fanciest, but I liked it due to the 'intermediate' size and price.

Re: Will any USB mouse work on a Dell E1505?
It says on the packaging of USB mice that they require a USB port to run. It is not necessary to install drivers with XP, they are already included with the operating system.

Re: Will any USB mouse work on a Dell E1505?
Thanks everyone for their response! That was a relief.
Now can anyone recommend a good mouse (wired or wireless)? What price range will I be in if I want a good mouse?
Also, this may be a stupid question, but I need clarification. Is Office Professional Edition 2003 compatible with Windows XP Media Center Edition?Last edited by JoeJimGregory; 28th June 2006 at 04:05 PM.

For a good mouse I'd go with the G5 for wired. And G7 for wireless. G5 goes for about $50 I think and the G7 around $70.
