How to transfer Dell laptop warranty with out previous owners name

While nice to transfer a warranty, I have never, and I mean EVER had to have a laptop registered when I've dealt with Dell's service.

The service is attached to the laptop/service. I had a Dell I purchased off here that was attached to a previous seller that I forgot to transfer. Had no problems getting service.

This is in 15 years, 20+ Dell machines I've owned. Every time I've needed help/repair, a simple chat give them the service tag and voila I'm golden.

Most, if not all the time, they won't even reset the bios password with out the system being registered in your name.

Bought a Latitude E6410 off eBay which turned out to be a Korean version (I'm in Australia)

Filled in the International Warranty Transfer form and clicked on the "Automatically Detect My Tag" button at the beginning and it jumped to section 3 (New Owner Information) when I clicked on continue. It didn't ask me for any information regarding the previous owner. Anyone has had any similar experience?

Just an update, this method still works. Last week I transfered a Dell Studio XPS 1340 and this week a 1647. Just make sure you enter that Express Service Code.

"THANK YOU, SERVICE TAG ***** HAS NOW BEEN TRANSFERRED"

Should i call the rep and check to make sure it really did transfer like the webpage said?

Yup called today after work, and it did transfer!!! hell yea!!! go ebay ishhhh. still got 3 more years of warranty on it. lol!!!

A lot of us buy laptops off eBay or Craigslist, and we don't get the sellers name, or the seller isn't the original buyer. If it has any warranty left, you definitely want it in your name, so you can use if your Dell unfortunately breaks down. So they're just sending you the motherboard and not sending a tech out to do the work or requiring you to send it in? If this is true I'll bet there are some scammers on ebay contacting people with Dell laptops for sale and asking for the service tag and code and then trying to transfer the warranty to their name and then scamming Dell to send extra parts to them.

Finding this kinda upsets me..

A couple years ago I bought an m1730 in December that was off eBay. But it was essentially a brand new m1730. Having been constructed in the month of October of the same year. It had a 1 year Warranty on it that I had tried transferring to my name. However, when trying to seek help from Dell they were giving me the run around.

The m1730 was shipped to the USA from Canada but looked like it was originally from the UK. So they were giving me issues because it wasn't showing up as an American service tag. I was never able to get help on this.

Now looking at how you did it, I go and do the same thing... and from my point of view it looks like I'll finally have this system listed under my name. Though seems pointless now as the warranty has since expired... and I could have used it. I wanted to extend it before it ran out but as I said... Dell were giving me the run around.

Finally received the e-mail stating that the ownership transfer has been completed today. Took about 7 business days. It seems like all the warranties are transferred as well (different country but same region transfer)

I do travel quite often to Europe.Is complete care transfereable from The US To EU region?
