Default Windows 7 upgrade disks from Dell

    According to dell site here:

    https://win7.dell.com/UpgradeDates.aspx

    quote:

Upgrade kits will begin shipping approximately two weeks after general availability of Windows® 7. Actual dates will vary based on language availability.
so considering the actual shipping date is this thursday we should get ours on the 5th november.

I would be keen to know if anyone gets theirs sooner (please post on here if you do) and also mention where you are.

    Thanks

    mark, uk

HI, I would imagine its going to vary based on a first come first serve basis. I mean they have to ship out everyone's upgrade from June 26 to like NOW so if ordered recently I wouldn't expect it for a while. You never know though I'm sure they don't want to have to send out all these upgrades for the next month. Might come sooner than you think.

thats what I am hoping !

btw - i would imagine that they are only going to send out disks to those people who have registered using the above links. I wouldnt just assume you are going to get some in the post.

Does anyone know what we will be actually receiving ?

I hope we're not forced to use some kind of dell wrapped install with all their drivers etc.

I deally would like to use a normal microsoft disk and just the license key that comes in the pack

Yes there is a disk that comes included. Why do you care about these details anyway?

caus i hate all the bloteware that dell install on all their laptops.

I was hoping it wipe the hard drive completely and then install it using the standard microsoft disk and then i can chooose what drivers etc to install.

Hey Mark. I don't think that is a good idea at all. I am willing to bet that Dell knows which drivers should be on the system... leave it at that. As far as bloat goes, pcdecrapifier will take care of it for you.

What you're hopping to get is a RETAIL upgrade disk and I don't think you're getting that. Probably just a DELL branded Win7 upgrade disk...

    @ TerryO'QuinnMedicine

So you still can't find a camera to take some pics of your "newly received" sxps 1645 w/ Core i7?
