For those who have used the disc to do a clean install, you all complain about having to search for drivers and how the upgrade assistant doesnt have all of them or the right ones...Think about it for a second..Prior to your clean install you had all the correct drivers. The disc shipped is meant to be an in place upgrade (although of course you can do a clean install) which means it will add things to your system, not take away. The Dell ugrade assistant only includes drivers that you should need when UPGRADING, not a clean install. Many of the drivers that work for vista work for win7 so they are not included on the disc as you SHOULD already have them on your machine. Doing a clean install is the reason why you are having to look for drivers

PS: Got my upgrade in the mail today. The mailman forgot to scan it or something so about an hour later I got a knock on my door asking for it back. I'm like ? He scans it then hands it back to me and then scurried away...THey're tracking these pretty tight I guess?

Ship date is today for me apparently....

Nice to see that you can Clean Install (which I will be doing).

Just will have to download some drivers in advance...Notably QuickSet and Chipset drivers...

For those who have got the DVD, can you tell if the COA is a sticker or not. If yes, are you able to stick it below the battery besides Vista COA?

doest look like a sticker, well it surely was a sticker but it has already been stuck .. on the paper cover. I also tried removing it .. did not come out well, so i might have to keep the sleeve safely somewhere ... of course it will be with the 7 disk.

I'd say it's safe to pretty much ignore whatever that site says given that some have had their disks through without any change on it and some have had no discs after the day the website says they have shipped.
I agree. I ordered mine on Oct 22, and i got it on Oct 27th. The status on win7.dell still shows blank .. i never got a shipping mail or anything at all. So i think thats right, just ingore the status and wait for the disks.

Does anyone know if Dell would ship to a country not listed in the shipping form? I'm eligible since I got my 1640 just a few weeks ago from a retailer in the UK; but unfortunately they don't list the Maldives.

Why exactly would it be illegal if I were the only one using the key?And regardless of it being an OEM version, couldnt I just do a clean install and it will be just as if I went to the store and got the full version?
