OS details, brand, mod number of computer along with burner drive details would help.
Have you removed or installed any new drivers/software or Win updates?

    a) go to Dell Diagnostics (F12 when in BIOS screen, go down to the diagnostic option)
    b) get ubuntu on a live USB drive (most of your hardware including the DVD drive should be detected... burn something in ubuntu, 0try to see if it's a hardware error or software error
