    Default 6000 just arrived..quick questions...

I read the whole thread SoutherGirl started on reformatting and cleaning up the dells and fell it necessary to do it. My system just arrived and of course the only disks with it are Norton and Office. I guess I need to call Dell and ask for cds for XP Pro, and since I have a DVD Burner, do I need to request Sonic as well? My other question is...It doesn't matter if I crank it up and play with it a little does it, then when the disks come, do the reformat. Dell sent this paper that looks like a Dell disc that says use Dell PC restore or microsoft Windows System Restore as my option instead of disk. Thanks for the help..

If you use the Dell restore disc or partition you will still have all the bloatware. You can call and request all the discs for your computer, they will mail them 2-day to you. You can play with it while you wait, that is no problem, just make sure if you want to save your progress that you save those files to disc.

In my opinion Sonic sucks...sorry but it had to be said. Go and get Nero or something like that, it is alot better.

Call Dell and tell them you need the Windows disc, some of the people will try and charge you and others won't. It is only $10, but why pay if you don't have to.

Another disk you'll need to request is Cyberlink PowerDVD -- it is the dvd player and decoder.

Talked to Dell...went pretty well. The guy tried to explain to me about the partition, but I cut him off and told him I knew about that and wanted to delete the partition and create my own and he stopped and set me up to receive all cds in next few days. this make me happy. The new 6000 is a lot slower than I thought it would be shutting down and botting up. Like I have read, the reformat when I get the cds will really help. Thanks for the help

You might want to try a registry cleaner and TuneXP which is a program that will help speed up XP if that is the route you want to go.
