I just bought a Dell Adamo from the outlet and the hard drive says 256GB Mobility Solid State Drive, 2.5MM.
Does that mean it has the enclosure? Or is this just going to be the bare drive (circuit board only)? I was hoping to take out the SSD and use it in a different computer and sell the adamo as parts.

It will be the circuit board only.

Sam's Club lists a pearl Adamo for sale on their Web site. Next week I'm going to stop in one and see if they stock it for show.

Never saw one in Best Buy.

I have to do this on my desktop because RAIDed SSD drives does not support GC or Trim, so I have to do it manually and it works.
I'll see if Dell will exchange the drive but comments from others who have contacted them suggest they won't exchange any drive that hasn't outright failed (and they want a Dell diagnostic failure error code). Also, since the Adamo is sold with "in-house" support, I suspect it isn't eligible for a parts exchange (i.e., customer repair). I'd bet most of the front-line Dell "techs" wouldn't even know what TRIM was, or for that matter, what firmware versions their SSS's are available with.

I'd be happy to hear reports to the contrary of course.

Forgive me if this has been covered but can anybody confirm the firmware version of the Samsung 256 GB SSD that ships with the current (refreshed) Adamo Desire? Also, is it the TRIM-enabled version?

    Thanks.

Samsung SSD comes with VBM19D1Q firmware - which seems like (from CrystalDiskInfo) it does not support TRIM.
The older version of firmware does support TRIM - and it is available here:
    http://www.samsung.com/global/busine.../business.html
But I guess there is a reason why they removed TRIM in this firmware - and maybe it would be better to wait for newer version of firmware.

I got my Adamo Onyx on February 10th. Like it a lot.
I found a link through BING, that had 4GB RAM configuration for the same $999 price. But when it arrived it had only 2GB RAM. So will have to call Dell on Monday...

Thank you for that info... I have not received my Desire yet, I ordered it direct from Dell. How would I be able to verify whether or not my SSD is TRIM-enabled?

    Just run CrystalDiskInfo

if it does not support - TRIM will be greyed out
