Re: 6 cell vs 9 cell dell battery
Not off the top of my head. I can't remember where I got mine at. You might try searching on pricegrabber.com or do a google on laptop batteries.

Re: 6 cell vs 9 cell dell battery
For those of you looking to buy an aftermarket battery, be very careful about used and unknown companies, their products can be defective and rather dangerous.
I have noticed that on the Dell site, the inspiron batteries cost ALOT more than the Latitude batteries, in the case of the 9 cell for the 9300 for example, they are the same battery with the same voltage etc and size, so you could buy a latitude battery and save fifty bucks give or take? Re: 6 cell vs 9 cell dell battery
I was wondering the same question. What to get with the Dell E1505. it comes with 6-cell primary and an upgrade of $49 to a 9-cell
for a 9 cell primary with an additional 9 cell it's $128 (so technically $79 for the extra 9-cell battery) i don't see the purpose though because I was told that there are no external chargers to charge the extra battery (like you would for a camera) and that it has to be in the laptop in order to charge it.
THe whole point of getting 2 batteries would be if you're out (and have nowhere to plug it in) and your battery dies, you can throw the other one in - but that defeats the purpose if it's not charged).
Is that the only way to charge the extra battery, by putting it in the laptop (say when you're not using it) to charge it overnight that way it's charged when the other dies and you can switch right away??? I don't know.
#2 I'm very short with money so I'm trying to save here but am I doing something good by atleast paying $50 to upgrade to the 9-cell (or is there NOT much of a difference)?

Re: 6 cell vs 9 cell dell battery
crap i just lost the last reply i made....to make it short & sweet... additional batteries are awesome because like my digital camera I have an additional battery and while I'm using one the additional one is in the wall charging so if it dies you can switch it up quick.
BUT i was told with a laptop battery you can't do that because it can only be charged if it's in the laptop....is this correct?
and if so, what's the point of an extra battery?

Re: 6 cell vs 9 cell dell battery
its the same deal, just a little more troublesome to charge them.
At Home:
1.Charge 1st battery,
2.Charge 2nd battery
Out and about:
1.Use First battery
2.Used Second battery
Is it really worth your money to buy a separate charger even if it were to become available? Just charge it at home overnight or something.
And something to note if its not already known, batteries should never be plugged in when the laptop is on with the AC.

Re: 6 cell vs 9 cell dell battery
Now why this should be a problem? Laptops cut the alimentation to the batteries when they are fully recharged nowadays. Removing the batteries wouldn't have any benefits on the batteries life. And something to note if its not already known, batteries should never be plugged in when the laptop is on with the AC.

Re: 6 cell vs 9 cell dell battery
Ok, but does the 9 cell battery stick out, or is it just the same size but more capacity?
Thanks
