From a FEATURES perspective alone: SLI, gaming, lights, speed/performance, illuminated keyboard, RAID, etc... I'd say the M1730, but its sheer mass can sink the Titanic.

This looks like a thread meant to include a poll which hasn't yet appeared.

Not sure about being best but I've seen a lot of nice Dell notebooks.

If it is a poll, it depends on what you want. You want portability then the XPS M1330. You want performance then the XPS M1730. You want something in between those two then the XPS M1530. You want something cheap that comes with XP then the Inspiron 1520.

    XPS M1530: T8300 | 4GB | 8600M GT | 1920x1200 | DVD Writer | 250GB | Intel Wireless N + Bluetooth | 9 Cell | Win 7 Pro x64
    Gaming PC: DFI LP DK P35-T2RS | Xeon X3210 Quad @ 3.2Ghz w/Ultra 120 | 4GB DDR2-1000 | 8800GT 512MB | Win 7 Pro x64
