    Default Dell's Extended Warranty

I just purchased a Dell 6000 and I decided to also invest in the Extended 3 year warranty option:
3Yr Ltd Warr,At-Home Service, and Tech Support plus Nights and Weekends
    plus
Premier Warranty Support, 3 YR [add $59 or $2/month1]
I was wondering if anyone has had any experience w/ this and what you everyone thinks. This my first computer purchasing experience and if they are taking me for a ride w/ this extended warranty I would like to know. Also I have learned a great deal from reading these forums and want to thank all of you for asking and answering the bazillion questions I had!!!

It really depends on how much you are going to use it. Those who depend on their computer for everything and use it all the time, will probably want to upgrade to something newer after two years of use. If you aren't planning on upgrading your computer for a few years, then the 3 year warranty would be good for you.

As far as actually using the warranty, I have had no problems with getting help from dell. I've had a few problems that required parts, and i was able to get them in 2 days, free of charge.

I have found with dell in the past when calling technical support, that the standard tech support is based out of india and they're software isn't as complete so they can't help you as fast as the business one. Trust me, I learned thihs after I spent a couple hours on the phone and the guy goes, call the business tech support...

I'll agree...there telephone support isn't that good, but there chat is good, not excellent, but its better than telephone. Home support is the best IMO

How is their next business day on site service? and also how is their complete care guarantee if something happens to the laptop (dropping it, spilling something on it, etc)?

Thanks for the advice. This is going to be a long term investment. I don't purchase computers very often and I'm going to have this computer for a while. I'm guessing at least 4-5 years and thats the reason for the extended warranty. Plus I'm a a bit of a clutz and I tend to drop and spill things. Thanks for the advice!
