Default 8600m gt overclocking (help: mem speed won't go higher than 450)

Recently I've been doing some overclocking on my inspiron 1520 with the 8600m gt card using rivatuner (nvidia driver is 169.25 from laptopvideo2go). I've heard that a lot of people have been getting the card to go from the 475/400 to 600/500. I can get to core up to the 600 point, but the card always crashes when the mem speed is 450 or over. (the highest 3dmark06 will run without crashing is 600/442. 442 is pushing it, i usually can only do 425 or 432). Is it just a bad card, or is there something else to it? At 432 the mem speed is barely overclocked, and i know i could get more power from the card if i could find a way to get mem to 450-500.

Oh, and btw, when the card crashes, it underclocks itself to 168/100 (which is the settings for standard 2d) and won't allow overclocking, until a restart of the laptop.

You have a card from the "bad" batch of the cards just as I do, I was plagued by the same issue that the card always underclock itself when OC is higher than 440 mem. I used this guide that set some advance setting within Rivatuner that force the card to not reset or lower the clocks. The method worked for me, I now can overclock at 575/1400/470, very stable.

EDIT: Oh in the guide where they say to set a variable to 100 to extend the maximum limit the rivatuner will allow you to OC, I strongly recommend you skip that step, so it will at least serve as a guideline, as a self-control,so that you don't overly do it.

Beware that you are doing it at your own risk, I am no way responsible if you damaged your card.

I would try different drivers.

I got a big improvement by going to dx10

which driver is that? I thought 169.25 was one of the newest ones.
