Determining if DVD drive is Double Layer capable?
I have an Inspiron 1520 and I can’t remember if I configured it with a DVD burner that is double layer capable. Dell did not provide me with a packing slip, which noted the notebook-configured specs. Is there a way for me find out/check if the drive is double layer or not? Without having to buy a DVD-R DL disc and testing/trying it?
Thanks

Re: Determining if DVD drive is Double Layer capable?
I think all the burners can read double layer. The burners may or may not support DL burning either +R or -R or both.
1. Look in Device Manager for the make & model of the burner and then Google for the specs.
2. Download and run Nero Infotool. It will tell you what functions your burner has (see the attached example).

Re: Determining if DVD drive is Double Layer capable?
I'm having a problem. Nero info tool, convertxto dvd and the manufacture all say that my drive is dual layer, yet when I put one in my computer literally starts to spaz out, and when I went to burn it when it wasn't doing this it just wouldn't do anything. I don't understand is going on.
