no no I'm not saying that the Zalman is loud, I plan to get it because the one I bought is fairly loud and seems cheap-which of course it is! As for using the 9 cell wouldn't it be prefered to use a 6 cell when using a cooler (assuming you have both) to gain the most out of it?

interested in what folks have to say about the Zalman cooler and the 9 cell battery. Does Zalman fit 1530 that's equipped w/9 -cell? (don't have 6-cell). thanks

It seems the xps series runs alot warmer. My 640M that I am selling and now thinking I will miss never had heat issues. At most I could feel the warm air from the fan on the side. These xps's and their heat is kind of annoying.

Is it normal for the powerbrick to get really hot?

Depending on the power output of the powerbrick and what you are currently doing.

    a 60W brick + notebook running + battery charging = hot brick

90W brick + notebook running = barely warm brick

    etc.

I've seen bricks that were so underpowered that they couldn't even really charge a battery inside a laptop while the laptop was running along. It got really hot then, aswell...

My 90W brick for the Vostro 1500 gets handwarm at best.
