Default Possible to upgrade inspiron/vostro wireless?

    Hello again.

When i ordered my inspiron 1520, i decided not to opt for the wireless n option. i now have a new wireless router (n)) router so was wondering if there is any way that i can purchase the component and and install it myself. The wireless at the moment is great and i have experienced no connection loss's after two months+ of usage but seeing as we now have a n router, and i have some money for upgrades is it worth doing?

Is the wireless embeded into the motherboard or is it just a pci device which can be changed for a new wireless n component?

    Thanks in advance.

You can actually install up to 3 wireless cards (802.11, Bluetooth, and WiMAX) in a new Dell.

But won't any future upgrades be an external card, as opposed to the internal card you would originally get from Dell??

Nope, you just have to open up a panel on the bottom of the laptop, it's easier than a RAM upgrade.

I know for certain with the 1700. (Mine has two cards installed - 802.11a/g and Bluetooth.) A Flash memory card can also be installed, but then only two wireless cards can be installed.

On the bottom, under the labeled "C" panel, you can install 3 different communications cards. It is truly so easy, it's idiot proof.

I'm no laptop communications expert but each slot has it's own label as follows, WPAN FCM, WLAN and WPAN. Plus the bluetooth module under the hinge cover.

So in my idiot knowledge in this department..I'm assuming this thing can expand quiet a bit.

Refer to you're manual included with you're notebook computer for illustrations and instructions.
