I ordered a 1420 and I was wondering if anyone knew what screen a UX303 is? Does the grainy screen also apply for the 1420?

I also got my 1720 from the outlet and I just sent it back for a screen replacement.

My warranty is the "mail in" type so Dell wouldn't send someone over to do it...

BTW, I went to staples and played with a small beautiful SONY notebook. Beautiful screen it had. Crystal clear, perfect.

Kind of sad that every Dell I have seen has had a terrible screen.
Did you get yours back yet?

I just had my LCD replaced today. The original LCD was a SEC3350 and was a bit grainy and had poor viewing angles although I didn't think it was too bad at the time. Then I looked at the replacement LCD and all I can say is WOW. The screen is absolutely gorgeous and its a LPLF300 no less. There is no grain what so ever, colors are more vibrant, the screen is so much brighter and viewing angles are excellent. Compared to the LG, my original SEC is total garbage. For those of you still trying to get a LG, don't give up. Its taken me over a month and countless hours on the phone with Dell to finally get a quality screen and I can say thats was totally worth it.

Is it possible to demand the LG when sending back? And is it everybody's experience that when you call for tech support, they are sorta standoffish on the issue? Its hard dealing with offsure tech support too.
As with you Jaquabeem, mines is slightly grainy but the super minimal viewing angle is way much more of a bother to me.

May I ask you what do you mean with "GRAINY"? I'm Italian and I'm afraid that my vostro has grainy Samsung lcd, but I want to be sure.
My is a "sad" story: I received my Vostro on sept 26, and after 2 screen replacement I'm waiting the laptop replacement (but I had to fight for it!), and I worry about the new laptop!

Well, I called support a week ago and the tech guy (India) said that Dell would send me the "screen" so that I could replace it myself.

I took my laptop apart right away.

30 minutes later, Dell calls me and they say that the screen is not a customer repalceble part and that I have to sent my notebook in for service.

I was lazy to put the system together so I only sent the LCD

Dell received it and the RETARDS don't know what to do. They cannot repair it without the rest of the notebook, but they don't ask me to send the other half, or they don't return the damn LCD to me either.

I tried calling 10,000 times and nobody can get in touch with the Depot department

All I want is to have my LCD back. ?

Who asked you to take your laptop apart?
Why didn't you send the whole system as you were instructed?
Who are the retards? Nevermind it is obvious!

I chatted with Dell sales today not expecting much, but she confirmed that my laptop would be shipping with the LG screen. She confirmed that the screen model number is LPLF300 and the Dell part number is XK309. She gave me a case number as well.

Perhaps Dell is only using LG screens? I will see it when I believe it...

    Ordered:

    2.2 Ghz, 800Mhz, 4M L2 Cache
    4 GB DDR2, 667 Mhz

Any update on your order? Have you received it? i am interested as I am about to order a 1520 and want to also call in and make sure that I get a LG screen.
