Re: ->The official POST ABOUT YOUR NEW DELL NOTEBOOK thread.<-
It'd be funny if I could just order them to deliver it tomorrow. Try it, tell them to deliver it tomorrow. Or make up a pin number and things mysteriously appear at the door - never leave the house again ;-)

go to this url http://ausoladcacm.us.dell.com/ostat...guage=E&~ck=pn and put your order umber in, then it will show you the status and near the bottom of the page you will see "Click here to view carrier details regarding the delivery of this item." click that then it goes to the puralotor site with your tracking number.

your order number would have been given with the order when you purchased it, if you purchased online then it will be in the email they sent you to confirm the order.

Re: ->The official POST ABOUT YOUR NEW DELL NOTEBOOK thread.<-
Yes....yet ANOTHER inspiron owner.....well, I thought I might as well post my specs.....after all I am more than a little excited....This lappy soooo kicks my home comps a$$
I just ordered.....then got smart and cancelled and reordered a dell i9400. On the reorder I managed to snagg a printer *snorrrrr* media remote (useless since I got XP pro) and a 100GB 7200 RPM hard drive vs the 80GB in my cancelled order, all for $200 less......gotta keep on top of Dell 200buck is 200buck.... )
Anyhow I ordered the following:
i9400 Intel Core 2 Duo T7400 2.16Gh Proc
Nvidia 7900GS
100gb 7200 RPM HDD
2GB 533 Ram (the faster stuff ain't worth it)
17" WUXGA+ TrueLife
XP Pro
DVDburner
Intel Pro Internal Wireless
9cell 80whr Battery
Purchased at futureshop: Logitech G7 mouse
Kensington Numberpad/Calculator
3yr Next business day, complete care, tech service
I am very excited. it's estimating 21st Sept for completion. Seems like a long time vs other crap I have ordered from them. Anyone know why the longer build time?

Re: ->The official POST ABOUT YOUR NEW DELL NOTEBOOK thread.<-
Ugh I've been obsessing over laptops this past week. Purchased an Acer Aspire 5102 because I thought it was cheap at CC. Wasn't satisfied with build quality and it stopped working right after a day. Plus I realized it wasn't that good a deal after tax and everything, it came out to about 887 dollars.
Returned it, applied the 20% coupon to my Inspiron E1505. Specs are as follows...
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T7200 2ghz w/ 4mb cache
ATI Radeon X1400 256 mb
512 mb 533 ram (I figure I'll save the money since I'm upping this baby to 2gb)
15" XGA + True Life
8x DVD Burner
All for 945 shipped. I'm extremely excited. Are the estimated ship times accurate or do they sometimes ship faster? I hope I get it before school starts.

Re: ->The official POST ABOUT YOUR NEW DELL NOTEBOOK thread.<-
I want to thank everyone who helped answer my questions and bounce thoughts and ideas off of. After 2+ months of researching, reading, waiting, and learning I finally pulled the trigger.
Here is the finaly spec sheet I decided on.
Inspiron E1705 Intel® Core Duo Proc T2250 (1.73GHz/533MHz/2 X 1MB L2 Cache)
LCD Panel 17 inch Wide Screen XGA+ Display
Memory 1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz
Video Card 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce Go 7900 GS
Hard Drive 80GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
Operating System Genuine Windows® XP Media Center 2005 Edition with re-installation CD
Network Card Integrated 10/100 Network Card and Modem
Combo/DVD+RW Drives 24X CD Burner/DVD Combo Drive
Wireless Networking Cards Dell Wireless 1390 802.11g Mini Card (54Mbps)
Primary Battery 53 WHr 6-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery
Hardware Warranty 1Yr Ltd Warranty, 1Yr Mail-In Service, and 1Yr HW Warranty Support
Inspiron affiliate offer 20% off $999 (before tax, restocking fees, shipping and handling) - $270.40
Subtotal: $1,081.60
Shipping and Handling: $19.99
Shipping Discount: -$19.99
Sales Tax: $59.49
Total: $1,141.09
Mighty cheap for the amount of power if you ask me. The cpu was the lowest available option to keep costs down. I will upgrade to a Merom down the road when Vista is out, and there are 64bit advantages. Right now, and for the rest of this year, there won't be much of any benifit going with Core 2 Duo. I debated this quite a bit with some of you and myself. I'm standing by my decision.
The other big decision for me was choosing the right screen. Look, the 7900 GS is an oustanding card and will perfom like a champ. I might have gotten away with good 1920x1200 gaming performance, and I may have ran into some snags. I am confident that 1440x900 will offer me some peace of mind knowing my framerates are good. It will let me run games @ native res and if I have extra gpu cycles laying around, that is what Antialiasing and Anisotropic filtering are for. Also, while the screen may not be as bright, it won't show me a reflection when I have bad lighting in the room.
All in all I am happy with this purchase and hopefully I won't have any buyers remorse when it gets here (OH HOW I WILL COUNT DOWN THE DAYS).
