Re: ->The official POST ABOUT YOUR NEW DELL NOTEBOOK thread.<-
first of all congrats to hockeyplayer_3 (above), I liked the MPS1210 and almost got it over the one below, but my school just had too good a deal with Dell... It looks like it would be hard to go wrong with your configuration, you got the top notch products at seemingly every place, although as I mentioned in my comments about my machine below it would be nice to have 667RAM and 7200RPM HD.
Here's what I came here for... to let the world (or this small sliver of it) know what I purchased today:
-Latitude D620, Intel Core Duo T2500, 2.00GHz, 667Mhz, 2M L2 Cache
-14.1 inch Wide Screen WXGA+ LCD for Latitude D620
-1.0GB, DDR2-667 SDRAM, 1 DIMM for Dell Latitude Notebooks
-256MB NVIDIA Quadro NVS 110M TurboCache, Latitude D620
-80GB Hard Drive 9.5MM, 5400RPMfor Dell Latitude DX20
-Windows XP Professional, SP2 with media, for Latitude English
-90W AC Adapter for Latitude D-Family
-8X DVD+/-RW with Roxio CreatorDell Edition Digital Media andCyberlink Power DVD
-Intel 3945 WLAN (802.11a/g) mini Card for Latitude
-Resource CD w/ Diagnostics andDrivers for Latitude D620 Notebook
-9-Cell/85 WHr Primary Battery for Latitude D620
-Type 3 Contract - Next Business Day Parts and Labor On-Site Response, Initial Year
-Type 3 Contract - Next Business Day Parts and Labor On-Site Response, 3YR Extended
-CompleteCare Accidental DamageSvc, Lat, 4Yr , 1-800-624-9896
Total: $1185.43
I am pretty excited about getting 1GB of DDR2-667 as opposed to 533, and the four years of service including CompleteCare was a huge draw. I wish I could have gotten it with Core 2 Duo and maybe a bigger (or at least faster) HD, but I don't even have that much media so 80 should be plenty for me. I can't wait to get it in the mail! Oh and there was a $50 rebate as well, so the final price I'm going to end up paying is $1135.43. What do you think?

09/25/2006 6:30 A.M. OUT FOR DELIVERY

I have class till 6pm...I'll try not to get a speeding ticket on the way home!
Edit: I've got it, and I'm posting on it now! It's wonderful...I could hardly be happier with it. Of course the crapware was annoying, but I've just about got that under control now. There's a *bit* of keyboard sag on the lower-right corner, but nothing I noticed until I remembered to check for it. No defective pixels, and the screen is beautiful to look at, though the vertical angles are not that great (par for the laptop course, I understand). I'm a happy camper!Dell XPS M1210 1.86GHz, 2G RAM, 12.1" 1280x800, nVidia Go 7400, 60G HD, 9-cell 85Whr battery, Ubuntu Karmic

Re: ->The official POST ABOUT YOUR NEW DELL NOTEBOOK thread.<-
hockeyplayer, how did u get that configuration for that price? I tried to configure one with less specs and it came up to be around 1600$! I'm interested in this laptop but not for 1600, for your price I would though. Thanks.
