Woohoo, my laptop now exists!
I ordered Friday afternoon. Within two hours it had checkmarks on Order Processing and Pre-Production.
Nothing happened on Saturday. On Sunday (Monday in Malaysia?) it got checkmarks on Kitting, Build, and Testing. Now I know there's a real laptop out there somewhere with my name on it! Hooray!
Now to wait three days while they put it in a box (and ship it from Malaysia...hmm...they didn't mention that part in the description of the stages!) Waiting is hard, but at least I know the thing's put together now and isn't waiting on any parts, right?

Ok, my spill on how I got my i9300. Yeah, when I was looking for my notebook, Pentium 4 was still hitting hard in the notebook sector. Well, I actually was going to get a Compaq that had a 2.8ghz P4, but mom says, "let's go to the Dell Kiosk." There, I fell in love with the XPS Gen 2. The 6800 ultra card was so great. But my mother wouldn't buy into the changing colors thing and all, so we went for a i9300. Specs are in the sig. Yeah, using a 750 off coupon, the final price was $2505.08. That actually was a great price because the 6800 and 6800ultra were the top of the market and Sonoma just came out. I still love my lappy. I'll never give her up for any Core2 machine out there.

So does the checkmark mean the stage is all done (so that mine, with marks at Kitting, Build, and Test is now IN the Boxing stage), or is mine currently in Test since that's the last one with a mark?

It's the leather snap cover, but it's not leather. It's a dull soft plastic, looks nice though.
