Jovan, your signature is wrong. The T7300 is not 2.2ghz, it's 2.0ghz.

And no, you have to order it seperately when you build your laptop. Or talk to someone who can change your order to include it.

To clarify, you can select it as a $15 option when initially configuring your PC. If you don't, they cannot modify the order to include it. If the PC is still in production stage, they will cancel the order and enter a new one configured to include the remote. If the laptop is past the production stage you can either return it and order a new one or talk to several Reps until you find one that can enter a standalone order for the remote (took me 3 weeks to accomplish that feat).

i just got mine free..at first i was arguing about me not getting a discount upon a purchase of 1520 using my dpa 4 weeks ago,,of course he wouldnt budge,,so i then said what about the fw331 that all my friends got on their 1520.i said even the reviews had it...she spoke to her supervisor and voila!!!! i got it..

Last night when using my 1420 with a lamp on beside me, I noticed that the headphone/mic jack grouping in the front is not an opaque black, but rather translucent, with red showing through. This is undoubtedly the IR receiver, and I would say a very cool design at that. I had previously written off any laptop with a headphone jack in the front, but now I'm rather satisfied with the port placement on the 1420. I just hope that I can still get this remote - and not be charged $30++ for it.

I think the good thing about the remote is, that you can put it in the expresscard slot. That way you wont have to carry it separately like other big remotes with ****load of features. The dell remote has only basic features and that's why im pretty sure i will love it. Especially for powerpoint presentations and movies when watching them in bed.

When I placed my order for a 1400 last night, they have the option for the travel remote but it's priced at $60. !?! 1420 = $13? And it is the same one as the 1420. At first I thought it was the Phillips remote or some other one, but no, it's the same. You can pair it with the Creative earbuds for another $20. How can they have the same item(s) with such a price differential?

In Germany it's actually the opposite. Dell charges people who buy a Vostro 1500 11,90€ for the remote. But if one configures his 1520 with a remote, Dell charges the customers a sh*tload of 35,70€.
I asked them why they do this, and a rep told me that it was the decision of the marketing section and that he has no further information on this
