Re: How do i delete the HPA partition?
I used a utility on the hard drive manufacturer's website to delete the HPA on my E1705's hard drive.
IBM Thinkpad R51: Pentium M 2.0GHz
Dell Inspiron E1705: Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz
Acer Aspire One D250: Atom 1.6GHz
HP G62t: Core i5 2.267GHz

The Hitachi 'Feature Tool' worked for me, BUT.... no guarantees as this is a very dangerous area for potential 'Oh... No... What happened???!!!@@##'

Good Luck

ps BTW Don't forget to 'erase' the Dell boot code first [fixmbr from Recovery Console or the like] or else Dell code may revert everything back during any subsequent reboot into WindowsLast edited by MarkMcK; 6th May 2007 at 10:09 PM.

Re: How do i delete the HPA partition?
MarkMcK , thanks for the posts on this....I just found this after posting a question in another forum....
I really want to wipe out media direct on my xps m1330. This feature has caused me to reformat to XP TWICE.
So this feature tool will allow me to completely delete the hidden partitons so that pressing the media direct button on the laptop will do nothing at all ?
Any help would be appreciated. I plan to ghost it once I get rid of these mediadirect partitions.
