I would be surprised if the Dell XPS laptops didn't have that option as well. I'd be fine with the 1GB DDR5 as well, as I've read that 1GB vs 2GB doesn't make much difference on video cards anyway.

Also, from what I've seen online, the GT 650m is supposed to be pretty close in performance to the GTX 560m. Unless I'm mistaken, it's also supposed to have Optimus, which could help battery life when you're not gaming, etc.
Actually the ddr5 version is a little better than the gtx 560m

it will be a good computer if they use it!

I will be very content with the GT 650M for the XPS 17. I just want the XPS 17 to have a video card that uses the new Kepler technology and 28 nm size. I don't really want the GTX series especially if the manufacturers are not implementing the Optimus technology. I would rather have better battery life than slightly better graphics with the GTX 660M.

The 660M is a big time dog. 66% more power for a slight graphics power bump. No thanks.

i think it will be a problem if dell xps 17 use GTX Series since it will consume more energy for the battery especially. if i may say.

That is incorrect. The GT650m and GTX660m are actually the same card, with different clock rates. In fact the GT640m is the same card as well, but with even lower clock rates and no support for GDDR5.

Both the GT650m GDDR5 and GTX660m GDDR5 are going to consume exactly the same amount of power in low-load situations. The branding just doesn't make sense..

The company is worried about money, that is why they downclock graphics cards. happens all the time.

That may be, but right or wrong, the 650m will have widespread Optimus support, the 660m likely will have none. That is a major power consumption difference in low-GPU load scenarios.
    Laptop: XPS l702x | i7-2720QM | Nvidia 555m + Intel HD 3000 (Optimus) | 8GB 1333MHz (Corsair) | 1080p AG (no-3D) | Intel 6230 WiFi | Crucial M4 256GB SSD | Seagate 500GB 7200RPM | Backlit KB | 9-cell Battery | Blu-Ray Reader/DVD+CD Burner

    Desktop: Q9550 @3.4GHz | GA-X48-DS5 | 8GB DDR2 1066 (Crucial) | Gigabyte 560TI @ 900/1800/4000 | 2x 22" 1680x1050 | Vertex 2 240GB SSD | 2x WD Black 1TB (RAID 1) | Antec 300 Case | Antec TP3-650W PSU
    Still an awesome system!

Exactly right. I don't care about the small amount of extra graphics juice by having a GTX video card series and not have Optimus support. I want the Optimus support for my video card especially on a laptop.

To be honest, I don't understand why we are spending so much time discussing about this. When was the last time Dell put the GTX graphics line in the XPS line? I can bet that the highest card we will see offered on the XPS line is the GT 650M. A GTX 660M graphics card on a Dell XPS 17 is a pipe dream that needs to be dropped like a bad habit.

True, I can't wait to see it released and see some photos.

The GTX560m has optimus support, the GTX580m has optimus support, and im pretty sure the GTX660m will have optimus support as well.
