Overclocking the GT 555M card.:-)
Hi guys...I overclocked my new XPS a little bit today.
And the 555M is great for overclocking..a lot better as the older 445M in my XPS before.
I overclocked it a lot and the temps are not going over 79C in Games like Crysis and Crysis 2.Before I overclocked the card I played Crysis 2 with 19-25 frames on "very high"..now I can play with 30-35 frames in 1080p.Great.No artefacts or other problems.
But letīs see the score in 3D Benchmark 11:
First the card with no overclocking:

Now with maximum overclocking(great...but too much heat and artefacts in games):

And now my perfekt settings for gaming and the benchmark is not bad at all..:

And the windows index with my settings:

Nice! Do you have any idea how I could overclock the 550m? I'm sure I would need an unlocked BIOS or some other software right? I haven't overclocked a PC since my desktop several years ago but Laptops are a different story.

can you do some 06? Not sure what good scores are in vantage or 11. I would assume you are getting like 10-11k in 06

Oh,sorry guys...using the "MSI Afterburner" for overclocking. You can control all dates(temps,fps,clockpower..etc.)ingame in the upper left corner, too. You only need to apply it first in the menue.
Here a pic of my settings...I didnīt overclocked the memory so much, because it brings not really more fps,but the temps are going up.This config was the highest power with great temps in my runs without any artefacts:

Thatīs right. For permanently overclocked settings you must set the afterburner on "Apply overclocking at system startup" on the down left corner of the display.
@corvette53p:Sorry man,no idea with the 550M card.I only have the 555M and the 445M.The best way is you make it in small steps. And after a step you play a fast Shooter like Crysis 2.
Look at the temps and the fps..and artefacts or mistakes in the graphics.
First I controlled my 445 temps and dates with furmark...but I think that can damage the card very fast.No game f****īs the card like this program..so itīs the better way for me to play real games for controlling.Dell XPS 17-intel i7 2630QM-4GB RAM-3D-3GB Geforce 555M-Full HD 3D Display

I donīt know...Iīm only overclocking with afterburner. For the working in BIOS my computer "know how" is not good enough.
Here the 3D Mark 06 Benchmarks:
Only the 555M without overclocking:

And now with my settings...in the most scenes the fps are so much more..great..:
