so everyone finally listens to gokou now about your temps not being good eh?

Anywho, I'm back, even more furious than ever.....

I'll start over from my 1st service.

Sometime last week (August 20th-August 23rd, 2012). I got my 1st service done for the temperature issue (overheating). The service tech was somewhat of an to me, quiet, cocky, and he thought he knew everything. I asked him to clean the old heatsink compound in which i was told that the more compound, the better it is. I ignored it hoping the problem came back. Heat came back with a vengeance.... 77C idle temps due to his lack of responsibility, and load temps hit around 95C or so.

Thursday (for sure, August 23rd), I called in again, telling them about my problem, they requested me to send my laptop in. I simply refused, because I need this laptop, it's very important that I have it because all my schoolwork is on here, all these programs involving my class is on here, and finally, the pure fact that my laptop is modified with an SSD drive, that i DO NOT want to lose to dell because their facility "changed" my laptop. After about 15-20 minutes, they agreed to send another tech out (keep in mind is this the 4th time i've gotten service since my first incident of the USB 3.0 on the laptop).

Friday (August 24th), Tech came, he was a total and complete /jerk/all the bad words you can give them. He came here, all high and mighty, pissed off that I wanted him to take his shoes off. I then told him that I cannot have the laptop out of service more than one day, and if it doesn't work, make SURE the laptop still works after he's done servicing it. GUESS WHAT? HE BROKE IT.... it's now 4:15. I call dell, talked to a supervisor, and he denies all fault from Dell. He says that the earliest the laptop can be repaired is Monday. I told him I demanded a new laptop, and he said that is quite possible but would be 3-5 weeks.... THREE TO FIVE FRIGGIN WEEKS. Talking to him for 3 hours now, I got irritated, they refused to overnight my parts and get a tech to fix it Saturday. I was tired and gave up. I also complained about the service tech they sent out in my area, he said he would take care of it, a complaint was sent out, and that a new tech would come out.

Monday (August 27th), Guess who calls? THE SERVICE TECH THAT SCREWED UP MY LAPTOP TO BEGIN WITH. He calls, telling me, "hey, I heard you had a complaint about me, so if you want another tech, it will come by tomorrow, no other choice). I called Dell right away with my complaint about the service, and I got hung up on by the first rep. Called back again, 30 minutes later I got hung up on..... On and on I kept getting hung up on when I asked for a supervisor.... Soo pissed you have absolutely no idea, you know why? I spent from 11:00AM to 5:00PM trying to get a hold of something who could help.

In the end, I got no service, no one spoke to me, and the Dell people kept hanging up on me, one guy had the nerve to put me on hold for LITERALLY, I mean LITERALLY 1 full hour straight. This is most definitely my LAST dell I will purchase, I am about ready to throw it out the window and get a new laptop. They've horrible service, they send techs out who are no better than a 4th grader, they refuse to treat all customers the same, and they don't care about your timed schedule!

damn! thats crap. I'd suggest email micheal@dell or pm dell bill whose somewhere around this forum.

I agree with you regarding the temps issue. This machine cannot handle temps well, and is a dust magnet

Why is it so difficult for Dell to send you the parts instead so you can work on it yourself? I just had them sent me a Keyboard in May, a Palmrest in June, and a Wifi Card just two weeks ago. All I told them was that I'd rather work on it myself (like how I've done in the past) instead of sending out a tech to avoid complaints. Evidently they will mess up your computer! Dell only hires their so-called techs from Ringling Brothers.

I will look around for the guy's information. I tried again today, and they ended up doing the "hang up" thing on me over and over, after about 2 hours i quit trying... i've totaled approximately 12+ hours on the phone trying to just REACH a supervisor (with 10% success rate).

I tried it like you said, insist on it constantly and they refuse to do it. I don't know how you can do it and I can't..... atop of that, they keep sending me the go around... now i have to wait until wednesday for the tech to come out (tomorrow). I've been out of a computer and have been using my netbook for the past few days now. You have any idea how frustrating it is to go from a 1920x1080 screen, able to read a whole book and move to a 1024x840 or whatever that super small resolution is??? I read my class notes by scrolling from left to right, up and down!

If you go backwards 30-40, maybe 100 pages or so? I've nothing but given Dell an A+ reputation, they've been absolutely good to be up until the last few weeks.

    Hi there,

I would love to help anytime you have a problem. Thank you for letting him know about me! I would prefer to be contacted via PM and send you my email and go from there. I would really appreciate it if you could remove my contact info from the post though for privacy purposes.

xxgokouxx, please check your PM. I hope we can get this worked out!

    Thanks!
    Mourin

And I can assure you, Mourin is about as far from being a guy as you can get.

@xxgokouxx You're a great Dell customer, and I know you're angry right now. I sure hope we can turn this around and keep the relationship alive. If you want parts only, let Mourin know. We can get that worked out. Just let us know what we need to do to make this right.

Not sure what happened but my laptop crashed and the touchpad drivers seemed to mess up, i installed the synaptic drivers from their website so fn+f3 won't disable the touchpad but using the windows mobility centre to disable the touchpad works fine, until i close the lid and open it again then I have to disable it again, Could i get a link to a working driver for the xps 17 touchpad which means that fn+f3 will work. Thanks
