Anyone have any luck getting the touchpad "Scroll Item Under Pointer" to work? My last system (Vostro 1700) had used Katmouse for years, and loved it. I was happy to note that this touchpad had that feature built-in... But cant get it to work, and cant get Katmouse to work either. Overall, at about one month, I would be a pretty happy camper if I could get this touchpad tuned up.

I have the opportunity to buy an XPS 17 through work and I have a couple of questions before I buy.

    1. What is the difference between the L701x and the L702x and are those the only two versions of the XPS 17? I assume the L702x is a newer revision but I couldn't find any details on what the difference is.

    2. How is the quality of the LCD screen on the XPS 17 and how does it compare to other similar laptops? I would be getting the 1080p screen. I don't think it's the 3D version.

    3. By looking at the specs below, can you tell which revision they are offering?

Dell XPS 17 17.3in Display 8GB Memory Laptop

Intel i7-2670QM Dual Quad Core Processor (2.2GHz) with Turbo Boost 2.0 up to 3.10GHz
    8GB Memory
    750GB Hard Drive
    17.3" Hi-Def (1080p) LED Display with TrueLife

    Elemental Silver Aluminum Finish
JBL 2.1 Speakers with Waves MaxxAudio 3
    HD Webcam
    Single Digital Microphone
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit operating system
Dell DataSafe Online 2.0 2GB Storage
    SyncUP by Nero
    Dell Stage
Wi-Fi; HDMI Port; 2 USB 3.0 Ports; 1 USB 2.0 Port; 1 USB 2.0/eSATA Combo with PowerShare; 1 Mini Display Port; Integrated Network Connector; AC Adapter Connector; Headphone Jack; Microphone Jack; 9-in-1 Digital Media Card Reader

Hi guys. My up arrow button at my backlit keybord has broken. Not all the mechanism but just a small "leg" of the black button. Is there any replacement or do i have to replace all the keyboard? I try to find replacement at Laptop Keys Replacement | Keyboard Keys | Free Video Guides but i cant find buttons for L702x. Do you know anything more?

Just upgraded to FHD lcd and now the brightness keeps changing which I believe is called auto contrast. How can I disable this? I looked in intel control panel where there is supposed to be an option under power but I have sub menus under power. Thanks for info.

The L701x uses the original i7/i5 1st Gen, the L702x is the Sandy Bridge 2 Gen.

Hi I just received my l702x in the mail a few days ago. I've been wondering, how do I calibrate the display? With optimus aren't there color settings for both the discrete and onboard graphics?

Hey, nice system specs!, but i'll advice you to get a system with an Nvidia Kepler Gpu "GT 600 Series", for better gaming and overall computing performance. Like the Gt 650m and above!, or wait for the newer version of dell xps 17 to be released (Xps L721x ivy bridge)

If the l721x is even coming out. As its looking like dell are dropping the xps 17 line.

is it just my unit or is the dvd kinda wobbly even when it's closed? I can kinda move it around up and down with my hand. In my Asus G73 the optical drive doesn't budge. I checked the screws under the back plate and none of them are missing.
