Well open will get you better airflow but will obviously attract more dust. Air filters will help though if your going open.

If like me you have simulation/CAD software or do a lot of rendering/encoding (not me), then the extra grunt of the i7 is really nice. Granted I still rock an OC'd Core2Quad desktop as my everyday system
Thanks! im now also going with a NZXT Phantom 410 Black Case http://www.ebuyer.com/327904-nzxt-ph...su-ca-ph410-b1 instead. I prob wont oc initially but later on i probably will. Although i'll need an aftermarket cooler as ivy is meant to run hotter oc'd than SB.

I don't plan to, I have unlimited access to a mini compressor that can blow air on the units to get dust off

With an anti-static nozzle? Without one you can get static from sprayed compressed air (couple that with electronics )

Ohh, I've been meaning to ask you guys what your MAX CPU temps are?

I've hit 85C on one of the cores playing regular games (not so intensive) and it's spiked to 87 once on me. Is this issue normal as I've never had a CPU go that high before. Fans kick on @ 100% and this just doesn't feel safe to me

sounds like you've got another weird MB symptom. Can you confirm with CPU-Z & Speedfan?

What are you using to confirm?

That's about what mine do under a full Prime95 burn. I've seen it hit 90C. But usually mid-80s in real usage. 100C is the shut-down/throttle temp.

And about the static nozzle, that's just what I've heard. I may have been lied to about getting static out of a compressed air nozzle, but it seems plausible.
