    Thank you Sam_A_1992!

It is time for me now to just let it go as it seems there's nothing wrong with my hardware.
I was getting the idea that something was wrong cause every benchmark from desktop sandy bridge with the M4 that i saw was above 80MB/s in 4k write. I guess 40ish is normal with our hardware combo

    Thanks
oooooooookay, here we go..... start off by going to your battery's icon on the bottom right. Hit more power options, change hte plan settings for hte one you're currently using. Hit "change advanced power settings" go through everything, and in plugged in mode, make sure it's clicked as performance and not power saving.

    Now onto the optimus part.

Right click your desktop, click "graphics properties" (not Nvidia control panel).

up will pop the intel screen. Hit power tab. Look at power source at the top, make it on plugged in and battery. Hit "maximum performance".

That's good for the Intel part.

Now, make sure any HARDWARE MONITORING software you have on, shut it off. MOST of these hardware monitoring systems give our systems a hard time and you'll get that kink every once in a while while using stuff.

*NOTE* Try to get the gadget for CPU Usage here:

    Desktop gadgets - Microsoft Windows

Let me know if your system periodically kicks up in CPU usage everytime the laptop kinks, if that's the case. Something in the background is screwing with your laptop.

Thanks for your help, i'll give the monitoring a go and see if that helps

congrats kopap! That's great news to hear! I love the fluidity of the core i7s, not one kink when i'm opening anything. I started using my M1330 the other day (core 2 duo 2.6Ghz & 4GB Ram, 500GB 7200rpm drive, 8400m GS). The difference is huge between the two!

Hello. I have a problem with my XPS bought in Spain. When I play an old game (Medal of honor airborne), the system freeze randomly and sound start to "stutter" during about 1 or 2 seconds. Really annoying. I have too a relativelly old Dell Studio 1747 (i7+Ati 4650) and it play very good and fluently this game. Whitout the "famous" sandbridge.

I have reinstalled and formated many times the OS and I have the SAME programs running backround that the Studio 1747. The only program running in backround is Microsoft Security Essential, but deactivating it, the problem persist.

There are many many people around the world with latency problems with this XPS 17. This is no serious. Dell MUST prove the systems before launch them into the market.

I have installed the piece of software bellow (better than latency check, because indicates the name of the drivers) to control the latency of the system, and it indicates that there is a serious latency problem. The question is to me: Hard or soft?

Resplendence Software - LatencyMon: real-time audio suitability checker

I don´t use wifi, only wired conection and i have not instaleld MacAffe.

    Any idea to solve this?
"In the Argentine Patagonia, i found that i don´t find anywhere else".

My note: Dell Inspiron 1720 w/gforce 6800 gt.

    Hi everyone,

Just had a service call for my Xps 17. I have the touhscreen version, however the touchscreen was faulty - the curser had a mind of its own intermittently!

They have just replaced the screen and guess what? Its worse ! This screen is well shot, the touch doesn't work, the curser moves every time you go near a corner of the desktop to the other corner !

They are coming back tomorrow with another screen and a new display cable, at what point do I say I want a different kind of screen ? ie 3d? Dont want to go down to a standard screen as surely that would be classed as a downgrade.

    Thanks !

I went online for chat to see what the max memory would be for sons L702X non 3d version. I know it only takes 8g from the looks of posts here but wanted Dell to confirm it one way or the other. The lady in Chat said IT WILL take 16g or 2x8g chips and I wanted her to confirm it in case I had problems down the road in getting them to be recognized. I printed the chat records before I closed the chat window so I would have a record but the emailed chat records had been curiously xxx`d out...Makes me curious if they are trying to keep info from me in the end.. Has anyone ever got 2- 8g chips to work in the non 3d version for 16g memory?

Here is how the chat records came..I took names out for re-posting purposes..Why did they XXX out all the numbers but my Service tag and System numbers all were still intact? Seems weird to me..

04/24/2012 07:40:35PM Michael : "Hi Jennifer I am fine. Looking to see what the max memory is I can put in my L*******x model laptop. Its the non *******d version. Can I put in *******x******* for *******g?"
04/24/2012 07:41:25PM Agent (Jennifer ): "Sure. I'll be happy to check that for you."
04/24/2012 07:41:30PM Agent (Jennifer ): "To better assist you, will you be able to provide me of your system's service tag #, so I can check on the available parts & upgrades."
    04/24/2012 07:41:53PM Michael : "ok..wait a sec so I can look"
04/24/2012 07:42:23PM Agent (Jennifer ): "No worries, please take your time."

    and then
    04/24/2012 07:47:16PM Agent (Jennifer ): "I see"
    04/24/2012 07:49:20PM Agent (Jennifer ): "for XPS L*******X : Maximum memory ******* GB"
04/24/2012 07:49:31PM Agent (Jennifer ): "Memory module connectors two user-accessible SODIMM connectors"
04/24/2012 07:50:34PM Agent (Jennifer ): "the system, initially came with : *******Dual In-Line Memory Module, *******GB*******MHZ = *******GB"
04/24/2012 07:52:47PM Michael : "Is that for the non *******d version?? It seems Dell shipped different motherboards from what I found. All have ******* dimm slots but only the *******D version has ******* WORKING slots where as the non *******d has only two working slots as the clips ar"
e removed from the other two. Since the *******D version maxes at *******g and uses *******x*******g I wanted to be sure what the non *******d system like mine maxes at. It now has only *******x*******g meaning I would have to go *******x******* for *****
**g. I want to be assured that I can do this before I buy the memory. Not going to be happy if I can only do *******g as I have been reading about some complaints on the web on my research.

isnt that corsair? but anyway yes many people have installed 8gb sticks fine. Bear in mind max speed is still 1333mhz on the l702x.
