Re: Dell XPS 17 (L702x) Thread
@will like you say people have a tendancy to post when they have a problem and not when they dont. The problems dont reflect if you should get one. But as said all laptops have their negatives so give it a chance and im sure you wont be disapointed

Re: Dell XPS 17 (L702x) Thread
Well after having my motherboard replaced 3 times, my keyboard replaced once, and my usb 3.0 daughterboard twice, Dell is finally agreeing to send me another system. Not to mention they orginally left out my 2nd hard drive when it first arrived....
So if anyone else is continually having a problem with your XPS, keep at it....although it only took 1 chat with a tech, and then a call from a supervisor, it was pretty much a quick process afterwards...be nice, talk to the techs like their human, and don't think that since the tech is outsourced, you won't get any help....
Upgraded processor! Full HD screen with 3d! Bigger HDD! Better wireless card with bluetooth, 8GB instead of 6GB of RAM, Windows 7 Ult
I've got to say that this is the first Dell I've actually been disappointed in, but I must say that Dell took care of me, and I didn't even have to escalate the problem...

Re: Dell XPS 17 (L702x) Thread
Mine came with A14 methinks and I have found no problem so far. Fan is very subdued. So I'm not inclined to upgrade the bios. If it ain't broke, don't fix it is my philosophy with regard to bios. Only thing I've upgraded so far is the videocard driver because of the alleged marked increase in Skyrim performance (I haven't gamed on the laptop yet). And the Dell stuff (like the webcam software) that itself asks you to get updated once in a while.

Re: Dell XPS 17 (L702x) Thread
Dell products are dud nowadays. Their customer service is the only positive....but I'd rather have a product where I didn't have to deal with c/s at all -- like my Toshiba of 4 years and running strong. Too bad I couldn't upgrade it to an i7 otherwise I'll keep using the sucker.
I've had very high hopes with Dell until there were about 28 phones call, repairs and a new (and still problematic) computer replacement. Needless to say this will be my first and last Dell computer.XPS Loose DC connection? Fix it here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/dell...ector-fix.html

Re: Dell XPS 17 (L702x) Thread
Having one bad experience doesnt/shouldnt reflect on future purchases from that company. All companys have their odd bad/defective product. I personally have had no problems at all in the last 11 months of owning an l702x and their cs was excellent from what ive experienced. So it just varys but there will always be those odd defective products from a company that were unintentional.

Re: Dell XPS 17 (L702x) Thread
I've been in contact with Dell over the past month to inquire about pricing on the xps17. However, the best price i've been offered is $1,184 with an i7, 8gb ram, 3gb video, 1080p, 750gb hd, blue ray reader. I've read a few people saying that after coupons they got a similarly spec'd machine for $800. Can any of you validate this? Is this realistic?

Re: Dell XPS 17 (L702x) Thread
Currently, for the £879 version of the XPS, this includes a screen with the following specifications:
FHG WLED AG (1920x1080)
Good screen?
What does AG mean?
This is one of their regular 'special limited deals' and I don't know what the usual screen specifications are for a model of this price.
One negative is that the accompanying HDD is a 1TB 5,400 model (spacious, but not the fastest)
