Re: Dell XPS 17 (L702x) Thread
Hi guys, im new here and pretty much a noob with computers and just looking for some help/advice on getting the best price on the dell xps l702x, the specs im looking at are:
2nd generation Intel® Core™ i7-2670QM processor (2.20 GHz with Turbo Boost up to 3.10 GHz)
3GB NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 555M Graphics Card
44 cm(17.3") FHD WLED AG (1920x1080) with 2.0 Mega Pixel Integrated Camera
8192MB 1333MHz Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM [2x4096]
8x DVD+/-RW, & Blu-ray Disc™ combo drive (reads Blu-ray Disc™ & writes to CD/DVD
1TB (5,400rpm) Serial ATA Dual HDD - (2x500GB)
the best price ive found it in the UK is for total of £881 including VAT after a 10% off code, does this sound right or is anyone aware of a better deal?
also will this laptop run through a 30" at the full res 2560x1600???
thanks in advance!!!Last edited by wyvo; 26th February 2012 at 02:26 PM.

Re: Dell XPS 17 (L702x) Thread
Thats a good price but if you can down the ram a bit, its a lot cheaper to install yourself. The 5400rpm is a bit iffy too, i would get say a single 500gb 7200rpm then add one later yourself if needed.
Cant comment on the screen as i havent tried it, try google
Edit: yes it will apparantely thats the 555's max res3DMark11: P6506

I would like to disable the 702x touchpad and use my USB mouse, but am having challenges finding the correct disable function. Can you help?
Thanks.

Re: Dell XPS 17 (L702x) Thread
"Fn + F3" will switch the touch-pad off.
"Fn" is the orange key beside the left "Ctrl" key.

Thanks fluffy88, but when those are selected the pad still stays engaged. I have been trying those today without results. Also cannot find anything in the control panel that helps..

Re: Dell XPS 17 (L702x) Thread
To disable the touchpad , hit the gear icon near the power button (Touch Strip), that will bring up the Windows Mobility Center, there you can disable the touchpad and other things as well.
EDIT: Also if that doesn't bring it up. simply hit the Start Button, and in the "search programs and files" box type in Windows Mobility CenterLast edited by SMDTECH; 26th February 2012 at 06:38 PM. Reason: More Info

Re: Dell XPS 17 (L702x) Thread
SMDTECH's method should work too.
When you press the Gears icon if nothing happens you might need to install Quickset software from Dell's website to get it to work.
