Which display is this? Is it one we want or not?? He has this pretty loaded with dual HDs and CD drives and the like out of the Outlet store. Just want to make sure what he is getting before I hand over the charge.

    and what is this??
    D3PVR

Thanks for any help guys. Im not sure what all these codes mean and web search isnt that helpful
That screen is crap, if you want a better screen, i would suggest getting the 3d version which comes with a nice glossy screen. D3PVR is a tv tuner which allows the laptop to receive television signals.

I was just going to say I found it as the 17.3 FHD WLED AG 1920x1080 just a minute ago. He is pulling it from the outlet store and with i7, 2-640g HDs, dual CD drives, 8g mem, tv tuner, 6230 net and 2 yr warranty for just under 757.00. Cant find anything comparable in price for that right now.

What makes that screen so bad? I see a diff in brightness and the aniti-glare on the chart on the two

How is it that cheap? Is it scratch and dent? The screen is bad because it has a thick anti glare layer that is very visible across the screen, especially on white. You can always upgrade the screen yourself if you need to.

Yes S&D and 22% off but hoping its like the other we got with no scratches or dents even visible...
Thanks for the info and the help. I guess I could always complain about it and see what they will do once we get it...It was one of the FEW with 1080p he could find in the outlet .
He also got the NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 555M 3GB graphics with Optimus and TV Tuner so I hope that will be a plus over the screen...?????

Guys, what's a good tool to monitor battery consumption, expected life? (3 hours to go, etc), and power management. Using Win7's default which is not bad, but would like something that gives me more info and centralizes everything in one panel.

I just use hwmonitor for the detailed info and dell battery meter for the options. Havent used any single panel programs though, sorry.

Thanks Sam, gonna try out both.

People, I red a few days ago on the thread people are booting on 10-15 seconds. I downloaded the bootup timer utility, set my computer not to ask for password and log into my user account directly, and the program reports 37 seconds. Took a stop watch and tried again, 35 seconds.

I have a lot of software installed, also quite many resident programs (loading at startup). But I see the timer is not waiting for those to start.

What's up, why taking so 'long'? (hey I am happy with only 30 seconds!). I wonder if something is 'holding back' performance in my laptop, with the OCZ Vertex 3 SSD I was expecting this to be as fast as other people are claiming. Anything I should check?

Sam, do you know where to find the Dell Battery Monitor? I go to the downloads page for this model at Dell's website, and I don't find it. Is it contained in another package, example, Dell_System-Software_A03_R282539.exe?

    Thanks!
