As I said, I have 'Renesas USB 3.0 Host Controller' - 2.1.28 installed, I downloaded it from Intel's website. Maybe I should try the older version from Dell's support page.

boylin, are you on the A14 BIOS release? For the nvidia issue, have you tried entering your service tag on the drivers and downloads site and then downloading the nvidia drivers listed as specific to your service tag? I posted details about this in another thread yesterday: **Dell XPS 17 (L702x) - DO NOT FLASH to BIOS A14 - (Updated 1/5 - see post 1)**

I am thinking about getting the XPS 17 or the Envy 17 which has some really good discounts plus 2 year warranty. I think the Envy looks a lot nicer than the Dell but the Dell GPU should be better.

I read that the screen that comes with the Dell 17 is of a poor quality and looks grainy. What is your opinion on the display?

I've got the 1080 CMO screen, and I love it! I don't think it looks grainy at all, but Im not too picky.

The standard CMO screen is pretty bad when it comes to surfing the web. It's especially noticeable against a white background. Its good for gaming though. I would suggest getting the xps 17 and then just call Dell and ask for a replacement screen and you should end up with the LG one, which doesn't have the grainy look to it. It's easy to install too.

Dell would send me a new screen just like that? It cannot be that easy. That's not something I would want to do either.

Hi guys I'm going to buy one XPS L702x tomorrow, with this specifications

    i7-2760QM 2.20GHz | 8GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM | NVIDIA® GT 555M (GF116) 3GB | 6230 Advance N WIFI+Bluetooth | Backlit Keyboard | Blu Ray Burner

Still I went to the Dell website today and they change the 2x500GB HHD 7200rpm option for a 1x750GB HHD 7200rpm, so with this can I still get the extra slot to put this HHD as a secondary one in order to get a SSD as my boot device?

Also I'm in between the 900p touchscreen (moslty thanks to Windows 8) vs the 1080p AG screen that for what I read has a really noticeable grainy texture, I don't want the 3D because I want Optimus + WiDi , still wich one should I get? I know about the lack of the extra 2 ram slots, still I'm fine with 8gb of ram for what I'll use it (Revit Rendering + some gaming since I'm more a console person)

    Thanks in advance

It was that easy for me and for other people. Dell tech support is very good when it comes to replacements. You don't have to do the install yourself, they'll send the part to a tech who would come and replace it for you.

The easiest way to gain the needed WWAN antenna leads is to simply replace the LCD back plate which comes from Dell with the antennas installed. The Dell part number is P5KGW.

Here is a link to one: Dell XPS 17 (L702X) 17.3" LCD Lid Back Cover P5KGW *A* | eBay
