Re: Dell XPS 17 (L702x) Thread
Hey, decided to buy an XPS 17 although I wont be able to order until Saturday when I get paid. I found what seems to be a good deal;
i7-2670
1600x900 Screen
1TB (2x500gb 7200)
6GB
GT 555M (non 3d version, not sure what that means really)
6230 bluetooth combo
backlit keyboard
Adobe Premier+Elements included
1 Year in home repairs included
£811 (£806 but I included the OS disk)
It is one of the student discount laptops + extra 15% discount voucher I got emailed today. I can't really afford to add the 1080p screen, I am already £150 over what I should be spending and it is an upgrade for me from my last display so I won't be dissapointed. I do want to know if I could upgrade later though when I have more money, and where would I get the display from?
If anyone has any experience I would appreciate it.
Thanks

Re: Dell XPS 17 (L702x) Thread
There is a few threads on here dedicated to this laptop and replacing it's screen.
Official "swapping the XPS 17 L701x screen" thread
Inside the L702x FHD 3D 1080p Display Panel Assembly
Probably two of the more appropriate threads.
Scott_RC-TEK has been a big help to a lot of users that were looking to replace their stock screen. His late post from that second link explains most of what you need to know.
Inside the L702x FHD 3D 1080p Display Panel Assembly
Basically, yeah you can get a new screen for the laptop, no problem at all.

Re: Dell XPS 17 (L702x) Thread
Just bought one of these laptops, got the FHD LCD, not the 3D LCD.
Awesome laptop, but i want 3G, checked under the keyboard and there's a slot but no antenna wires and pulled the top right side of the screen bezel back and there's no antenna.
Any where can i get an antenna from and does anyone know a p/n?Last edited by boylin; 5th January 2012 at 04:54 PM.

Re: Dell XPS 17 (L702x) Thread
Hey guys, I had a few questions..
Anyone know if the L702x can run RAM at 1600 MHz?
Also, as far as I know, the dual hard drive version has 3 SATA ports, 1 for each hard drive, and one for the optical drive. Are these SATA II (3 Gbit/s) or SATA III (6 Gbit/s)?
Thanks
