Re: Dell XPS 17 (L702x) Thread
I do. I can't seem to get the back off though. I don't want to break it.
I'll download that now
And XPS 17 should beat the mackbook hands down. Macs are waay too expensive for what you get. You could always think about getting an alienware or something if you're thinking of spending that much money.
How exactly did you get the back off? I unscrewed the back, then released a few of the clips, but I couldn't get the others to come free. Did you have to lever it out fairly hard?
Do you think there's any chance of adding the clips yourself? or are the other slots not connected. Because I ran the "Crucial" memory info programme and it said I had 4 slots...
And do you have the 555m or the 540m?
Sure. How exactly do I find that? I can only find the intel HD 3000.XPS 17 (L702X) - | i5-2410m | 4GB RAM | 3GB Nvidia 555m | 320GB HD | 900p | 6-Cell |

Re: Dell XPS 17 (L702x) Thread
It looks like some have been reporting different things. Joxercore is not in the US, which is where most of the reports of 4 dimms have come from as far as I can see. I also see where there is 4 boards with different variations, so it may be the luck of the draw.
I have also seen where Dell here in the US is saying that the intel h67 chipset problem will be fixed before the orders ship. That may explain some of the delay here.
Hopefully the next order can help us confirm this.

Re: Dell XPS 17 (L702x) Thread
Anyone know how I can view info about my 555m. It only lists the integrated graphics when I go on to display settings...

Re: Dell XPS 17 (L702x) Thread
You have to be fairly determined with the cover and give it a bit of a forceful lift. I was a bit apprehensive myself at first but the cover does seem to be strong enough to handle it.
Don't think adding clips would do any good as you cannot actually fit in any DIMMs... you would need to change out the DIMM Slot holders, if the motherboard supports it. Doubt it would be a runner, but I'm open to come-back on that?! Anyone ever done that before?
I have a GeForce GT 555M in mine...

When you right-click on the desktop, you should have "NVIDIA Control Panel" listed in the right-click menu.
At the bottom of this Control Panel, there is an additional 'System Information' option.
The Control Panel is where you can select which programs use which particular graphics card

Download CPU-Z then you can check everything you have on your computer, clocks etc etc
If not I guess it should be somewhere in your Nvidia control panel.L701x I7 740. 4GB. 500 HDD. BD
