If you use VM machines.Yes it is worth the $$.2720 has better hardware support for VM.
As you see in the intel site the diference betwen the two is not only in MHZ.In 2630 some instructions are cut of.The gap in preformence betwen 2630 and 2720 is much bigger than 2720 and upper model. That means take the 2720 it is worth the money. As i Scott says anythng above not wort it.

Just wondering whether the USB 3.0 issue has been resolved for anyone with the latest version of the BIOS (A10) I have just organised a return of my system as the screen and USB 3.0 ports both have problems.

What's the risk of instsalling direct from that link? I think I would have been more comfortable if I had found myself on a Dell page. I also wonder why Dell would have removed it. Have others tried this Graphics A07?

I'm sure Notebook Review is pretty safe so will proceed unless someone has had a bad experience.
I had created a thread for the graphics driver for the L701x 435M/445M that a lot of good people donated some good info about doing a clean install from the Nvidia site. Most of the the info minus the GPU difference should still be helpful if your interested.

Dell's Graphic Driver vs. Modified Nvidia Driver for 445M

For those who are interested, I was recently notified that Dell should have the Mobo's(system boards) in stock that have the 4 dimm slots for the non-3D systems that allow you to have the 16GB RAM. This really only applies to those who wanted the 3D system setup without the limitation of only being able to use the discrete Nvidia GPU GeForce GT 555M with on-board 3GB RAM.
I am scheduled to have the Mobo replaced and will post the the Dell system board part number once that is done. This should be within the next 2 to 3 days and will post it soon as possible.

Pretty good news, I might have to return my machine for that mobo.

Hi, I'm new here. I'm going to pull the trigger for a XPS 17 3D(1080p, 4 DIMMs) tonight.

What screen & USB 3.0 issues are you talking about???
    Better not upgrade BIOS???

    Thanks,

I've never had the usb 3.0 problem and i use it all the time for my externals and my mouse. RoosterRed, suggestions on what people who already have their 3D panels should do if they want the non 3d to be able to have 16 gigs of ram? Would we have to return it then get a refund and then place a new order? Also would the screen on this laptop be Tru life or anti glare?

Also by "This really only applies to those who wanted the 3D system setup without the limitation of only being able to use the discrete Nvidia GPU GeForce GT 555M with on-board 3GB RAM." you mean to be able to use optimus while still being able to have 16 gigs of ram right?

Also, is there anything i should check when i do receive it? i know the usb 3.0 problem is fix with the new bios update. Bump near the power button or something? Glossy, matte screen?
