I've been fine playing starcraft, cod4, crysis...

For some reason, call of duty 1 demo wouldn't run. Same with the Dragon Age 2 demo. Might be just bugs in the demos. I could run both of these on integrated though, just not the 555m.

Being fair to Dell, upon me informing them of the issues, they had no hesitation in arranging to take the laptop back and giving me my money back. I may or may not reorder another Dell. I was not too impressed with the "feel" of the keyboard keys. However this might have been a problem with the backlit keys and the non-backit version might be better. I was also a little disappointed with some of the quality of the materials used. In particular the base plastics seemed a little weak. A HP Pavillion I played with recently seemed better built. However for those concerned about the 1600x900 screen I can tell you that it is not too bad and is perfectly useable. Hope all other UK people who have ordered the backlit keyboard have better luck than me.
uh oh I ordered a UK backlit keyboard. I'll let you know how I get on with it. I also ordered a 3D screen so although my estimate delivery time says the end of March, I'm expecting it in September

I also ordered the UK/Irish backlit keyboard and got a US one. I was going to phone up and ask if they could replace the keyboard, did they not mention if they could do that?

Also, I am unable to shut my L702X down. Everytime I select shutdown, it restarts. So I have to hit the power button when it's POST'ing to turn it off.

Small dink in the chassis next to the touchpad, but doesn't bother me too much.
Am annoyed with only having 2 DIMM slots though, was hoping to just buy another 4GB kit, but looks like I'll need to shell out for an 8GB kit and sell the RAM it came with.

Since XPS models use Optimus (as most other laptops these days), these issues affect the L702 too, but from what I read it's all down to software compatibility and drivers... Resolution is a matter of time, I guess. I suggest you follow some Optimus-oriented threads (i.e. link1, link2), but they seem to refer to NVIDIA forums anyway.

Thanks mkj, I'll give it a read. Lappy due Friday, so I'll probably spend the whole of Saturday tinkering with drivers trying to get games to work.

I have just received my L702X and it has also come with a US backlit keyboard, not UK.

I also seem to be having a problem with the fan. It will kick in during light use and not turn off. I'm having to shut down to get it to stop.

oh God this does not look good

Are you guys asking for Dell to pick your laptops up to correct the error? I can't believe they've messed up with these keyboards

Yeah, same with the L701X and the Latitudes I've used... Apparently Dell is not going to recognize the fan issue ever!

How is a US keyboard any different from a UK keyboard?
