Re: Official "swapping the XPS 17 L701x screen" thread
I most certainly will! I know Windows is a bit difficult when it comes to colour management, but we'll work it out.
I'm expecting my new panel today, so I'll be busy taking photo's / viewin angle video's and not in the least: replacing the actual panel.
Once that's done I'll try and figure out the whole color-profile-without-special-software thing.Last edited by Mitchell2.24v; 10th January 2011 at 03:34 AM.

Me also !
What would be informative is how to remove the bezel.
I have looked at it but have no clue where and how to start. I have read some about this, but an exact explanation (nice to have photos of how to grab the bezel) would give me more confidence. I'm afraid I'm gonna break the screen in pieces.

Re: Official "swapping the XPS 17 L701x screen" thread
I'll try and describe that or take a picture if I can. I tried to describe it in my previous post (the one with all the pictures) in this thread. The basic idea is to move the bezel outward, so gently push the bezel towards the edge of the screen.
I'll make a diagram, that might make things easier to understand...
Stay tuned!

The Dell Service Manual is available from the Dell Support website. It gives some simple instructions on how to remove the bezel.

That's right, but I can understand people being a bit cautious. Removing the bezel is not hard or difficult, but you need to somehow get a feel for it. I already have some ideas on how to properly document the removal.
Unfortunately, I missed the FedEx guy yesterday, so I'm hoping he'll be back today. And the next few days are crazy busy, so I'll try, but I'm not sure I can do the swap and / or document it all right now. It may take a few days.

It's here!

(sorry for the crappy photo, I had to do this in a rush as I'm on my way out)
Now I just need to find some time to install it and do all the pictures and tests...
