Go here https://support.dell.com/support/ord...=04&l=en&s=bsd, enter the order number you were given then your zip code.

I don't see why you would be so mad because Dell's only obligation is to give you something that is equal or better. Although the GTX260 SLi is essentially a die shrunk version of your 9800GTX Sli (55 vs 65 nm), it has a higher core, shader and memory speed, which essentially qualifies as being better. I don't see why you feel like you are entitled to the GTX280s. Yes, it is true that one could get lucky and talk to a rep who is willing to give a set of 280s, but this sense of entitlement is absurd. Just take the M17x and enjoy it.

Well they took my extreme processor away on the last malfunction, took 2 months to get me that PC , then it shipped with the wrong video cards (of course they took the extremes away on that deal too) they did send a tech out and install the 9800M GTX's. This is my 5th exchange I have lost at least 5-6 months of use, I just went out and bought another PC because the one I had I can't depend on anymore...I could continue to rant about the wrong OS being installed on delivery so I had to reformat a new PC out of the box..and thats just some of the things that have transpired. OH and the 2gigs of ram instead of 4 (They did ship the 4gigs out which I installed) No wonder XPS is no more. I had a PC worth well over 4000.00 US and the almost 5 year old HP I sold my friend is still running like a charm...go figure.
Anyways looking at the specs if I read correctly the 280M's run 10-25% faster then the 9800M GTX's depending on how the manufactor configures the system.
Rant over. . . for now, thanks for listening.

    Update:
They made a new dispatch for another M17X replacement. Yea so I just received this M17X on monday the 21st and they are going to send a new one because they simply rather repalce the whole thing than to send a tech out to switch them out. Anybody know why? This time it is supposed to have the extreme QX9300 processor. I'm hoping they don't downgrade the 280 SLI to the 260's or mess anything else up but reality is they probably will. I also requested bigger ram and hard drive but I'll just have to wait until they give me an order number to find out.

They told me this exact thing. It was a lie. Rookie tech people see "soon" listed next to the 8800 GTX and think it means it's coming in tomorrow.

And then I call on Wednesday and ask why nothing has happened and they figure out that the card isn't coming in any time soon.

Of course there is a slight chance it suddenly came in. Just don't count on it.

I have played with 22 xps1730 notebooks over the past 2 years, and ALL have problems playing DVDs when on battery. Recently, tech support confessed this is a design flaw.

As they say, the system needs 230 watts, and when you switch to battery, there is not enough power. Only workaround is change to 16 bit playback, or reduce resolution from 1920x1200... when watching SD DVDs on battery.

If you complain that playing DVDs on battery is important to you, you may get lucky and get a m17x replacement. A few owners did, most did not. YMMV.

I've said this in the past and I'll say it again, I think some people here are getting a worrying sense of self-entitlement. If you have gotten a resolution quickly, then asking for such upgrades is greed, pure and simple, and anyone who feels entitled to such upgrades because they've had to wait a week or two is delusional.

There are people who have had to put up with far worse than you that have the 260Ms. There are also very lucky people who got 280Ms without asking, but these are not the norm. Furthermore, Dell if they have any wits about them is likely to start formulating an internal policy on how to deal with this, and thus we should start to see more consistent results.

As long as you have gotten a timely resolution and all components are greater than or equivalent, you should be happy. Many have had a nightmare getting their system replaced with an equivalent and have had to wait for months (see the first pages in this thread).
