Default Studio XPS 16 1080p RGBLED Settings?

I just got my new system yesterday, and the screen is mighty bright, with very bright and detailed colors, which seem fake and cartoonish...

It's a beautiful screen, just bright... The colors seem like they are highlighted, and not natural.

Who has the correct setting for this monitor?

I'm a fan when they work right. I am done with desktops, I just use it for a server now, no need to purchase any more now that lappies are cheap and capable. And I upgrade my laptops every 6-8 months... It's a time frame that I set, so I can get a new system, use it, and sell it w/a warranty left for close to what I paid, and use that money toward the new one.

I just finished setting this one up, and will soon put the 1537 up for sale or trade.

You can change the settings for each of RGB in the ATI software. Just mess around with them until it works for you. Also, if will take some time to adjust to the screen.. its a wide gamut display with less contrast than what you may be used to.

It's not the brightness that annoys me, it's the colour saturation. I'm a photographer and I've very serious about my screen setup. In the catalyst CC I turn down the Vivio colour Saturation slider down to 75.

I have colour profiled my sceen using a colourvision spyder pro, but I can't get a linear grey scale yet. It's close but I'm still getting colour bands in the scale. It has generally sorted out the default blue colour cast and the colours are looking a bit more lifelike. Although it can't dial out the odd magenta swing to deep reds.
I guess this what happend with the new LED tech...it's all Generation 1. Where as my old HP DV9000's screen was far easier to profile.
Dell XPS 17 (L702X), Intel Core i7-2630QM 2.0GHz, 12gb DDR3 Ram, LED 1080p 3D, Vertex 3 240gb SSD, 640GB 7.2k HDD, NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M 3GB, Backlit Keyboard, 9-cell and 6-cell Lithium Ion Batteries, DVB-T card, Intel Centrino Adv-N 6230, Bluetooth, BluRay Combo Drive....it's a very nice machine, except it's a bit bulky, it gets a bit hot and the battery life utterly sucks!

Can you share your calibrated monitor (ICC) color profile here, Gazzajagman?

Here are my custom CCC settings:

    Notebook Panel Properties:
    Avivo Color: Hue = 0 Saturation = 80

    Hope those help!

I was thinking about getting the studio xps @ 1080p but was worried that everything would be too small. How do you like yours?

Well, everything is really small, but luckily it's on a 16" screen. Unfortunately it's the only option right now. The Standard 720p is horrible, I had it and returned it due to other problems. I have a Studio 15 with the mid line WXGA+ LED 1440x900 screen and it is awesome, I wish the SXPS16 had this type.
