My XPS 1640 shipped today. I ordered on 1/12 with an ESD of 1/29. My status was recently updated in the Dell system to say it shipped today (1/21), but they did not provide tracking info yet. I didn't spring for overnight shipping so I'm guessing it will arrive on Friday or (gasp) Monday.

I ordered RGBLED Screen / P8600 / 4GB / 320GB / Blu-Ray / 5300 Wireless / Bluetooth

Did I mention that when I ordered, I got both my EPP discount AND the $200 gift card?

Very nice. I wish I had ordered earlier, would have saved a ton of money. I ordered it on the 15th and got to boxing yesterday. ESD set at 2/03...hopefully not THAT long. Please have some pictures for those of us still waiting.

so... did you get that tracking info from dell reps? i mean cuz i think they might have the wrong address. Just give me the order number and ill call dell up and make sure fedex ships to my house *cough* i mean, you address.. lol :P



btw i thought that some1 here had overnight shipping, i wonder if their lappie shipped today as well?

Yes, I'll take photos. It's a 30th birthday present for my wife so you might get some bonus unwrapping pics.

I honestly don't know a thing about wireless cards, I did a couple google searches, assumed the 5300 was "better," and the cost was cheap compared to the total I was spending so I just added it.

My total cost ended up being about $1655 including $100+ of tax. Then I get the $200 shopping spree extravaganza later too. Maybe I'll get a better, wireless-n router! woo hoo!

Congrats! Excellent price. I really think that there's no other notebook available now that could compare to it spec-wise and price-wise. And of course no Apple in the world is even remotely close to this Dell.

OK - I just called about 5 different Dell phone numbers to try to get my tracking number. Regardless of my pleas, they keep transferring me back to the EPP area which closed at 7pm CT. So, unfortunately, I won't be able to route that package to your home fxny12004. So sorry!

I'll check again in the AM and hopefully have the firm ETA. My fingers are crossed for Friday - the info online says:

Funny thing is that I'm typing this on my MacBook Pro. I probably just got myself kicked off the forum, didn't I?

At least I have boot camp with Vista Ultimate on my other partition!
