Your order date is the date it is confirmed. Once it is confirmed it is added to the production line.

We placed our orders close to the same time and my Order date is January 13 and estimated ship date is January 30.

I'm not able to get the 9 cell option on the 16 on dell.com

What kind of improvement is there going from DDR2 to DDR3 ram?

None at the clock speeds currently in use. The higher latency negates any real advantage. Same situation as when DDR2 first launched, though of course long term it'll be better.

So if I were to buy a 16 with 6 GB of DDR3 ram it might as well be DDR2? (with a couple hundred dollars added to price)

EDIT: Is your ac adapter (for a 16?) a giant brick or more practical in size?

Yeah, that's what I'm remembering from Anandtech and the like, although right now it looks like a 4GB DDR3 DIMM is about $150 more than a 4GB DDR2 DIMM.

Sorry, I don't have it yet. I guess it'll get here early next week.

My 13 has a ship date of Feb 1st. This is my biggest concern...not actually having a 9500m in it.....

"Re: Studio XPS 13 GPU misleading?
what we are actually getting is integrated 9400m + dedicated 9200gs (which will look seemlessly to your system as a 9500m

on the fly it will manage performance and power requirements, and enable the 9200gs hybrid gfx boost as need.

to the end user it will be seemless, it will say 9500m is the control panel, the user will not have any idea that the 9200m is even there ... (the hybrid sli switching is on the back end of things and will be performance on demand)

so essentially in your 1340 it will show 9500m in the control panel.

on the backend driver side of things its actually a 9400m + 9200gs, that is in hybrid sli, and will delivery power and performance on demand.

i have no idea what performance to expect though, i would assume it will be like a lower end 9500gs (hence the 9500m naming scheme)

this implementation of hybrid sli is new, and is not simply just switching between integrated and dedicated."

If it's really seamless that would be awesome, but to date, neither Nvidia nor ATi have made anything that handles that remotely seamlessly, and to my knowledge there's nothing special about this that makes it any more seamless than regular SLI.

I hope Dell includes the 16 in their 9 day sale going on now.

How do you get the 9 cell battery option? Dell.com only shows the 6 cell.

It doesn't matter how seamless Hybrid SLI and GeForce Boost work, there is no way it will deliver 9500M GS speeds. Not even normal SLI can double performance.
