for some reason its no longer offered. Yesterday when you configured a 1640 at the end, you would see a 200 dell gc included, but today i configured one and voila NO GIFT CARD!!! 1 day it took. Shame really.

It could come back, the configurations are changing a lot in the first few days.

    I will wait.

It's between this or the Sony FW. The difference in price is near 500 with similar specs.

Thanks risbac! That would be awesome. For me 1340 is almost a perfect notebook, I only need Blu-ray (well, 9-cell battery would be good, and more color options, but those are not essential). I will wait some more, since it's not urgent for me at the moment, but as soon as Dell offers Blu-ray on 1340 and the first coupons appear, i'm buying it right away!

I remember that original slides that appeared in August, indicated that 1340 comes with slot-loading Blu-ray, but apparently it doesn't. Or at least, it doesn't YET. Just wonder if there are any alternatives or the technology is non-existent yet (thin drives).
I heard the blu-ray thing in the 1340 is coming in like march..... i read it somewhere but i don't know where lol.

I don't think there are any 13" notebooks with slot loading blu-ray...

Thanks, even March is ok for me, not urgent.
What if they add nVidia 100 series in March!!! Wow, that would be really cool. Lenovo will have those in March for sure, I hope Dell too!

It doesn't seem to be available yet on Dell Canada's website.

I'm not sure how I feel about the new Studio XPS line-up, I don't like the way that the screen hinge looks... as if its' a regular hinge bolted onto the chassis and the display...

Had a Dell rep tell me that with the M1330/M1530, the first online promos went out within a few weeks of release. So there's that.

Suppose there will be any luck for a backlit keyboard (not a biggie) or Intel wifi (biggie) in the XPS 13? I don't know if these online configs will change much.

But backlit keyboard is a default option in 1340 (even though it doesn't mention it on the configuration pages). You can read about that in the Design section:
    Simply luminescent
The Studio XPS 13 shines a light on features that matter. Its backlit keyboard and touch pad buttons are easy to use, day or night. Capacitive multimedia buttons also glow white when activated.

Also, are you saying Intel Wi-Fi is better than Dell Wi-Fi, and why?

If I see some good reviews I am pretty sure I am going to buy the 1340.

    However,………..

Is there any evidence there will be an XPS 14? If so can anybody make an educated guess as to when?

Also, do you think there will be a significant price drop on the 1530?.....It is still a great machine after all…….

    Cheers
    T
