M1530 touchpad replacement
Hey everyone,
I have a M1530 that is still under warranty until April 2009. I have been experiencing problems with my touchpad. I get random clicks, extra clicks, random mouse movements. I formatted my laptop, it's not spyware/malware. Also flashed the Bios to A09 and still have this problem.
I'm thinking about giving Dell a call to get a replacement, has anyone had theirs replaced in the past? Did they replace the entire palmrest as well or just the trackpad?
Thanks!

Re: M1530 touchpad replacement
I dont know of anyone replacing their touchpads... but before getting that far I would recommend trying out different drivers and see if it helps... if you are with Alps now, I would suggest trying the synaptics drivers... and see how it is.

Re: M1530 touchpad replacement
Tried that, this is not a software issue, it's definitely hardware related. From a fresh format any generic touchpad driver would allow someone to be able to tap on the pad for a single click, when I do it on mine it either doesn't register at all or it does it multiple times no matter how much preasure is applied. The Right/Left buttons themselves either don't respond for clicking one out of every 2-3 presses or when pressed they will continuously click until you press the key repeatedly to stop. The keys themselves have 0 resistance to them, they feel exactly the same to when I bought the laptop.

Ah ok.... probably you might get a replacement... call Dell... I read some old posts from Dell users where they got the replacement
