Us A few Vista 64 Bit M1530 questions

Hey all, I was looking around the forums, and was wondering why I wasn't getting all 4GB's of RAM that I paid for. Found out that it's because of the 32 bit vista installed on my PC.

I have a few questions that will make this MUCH easier

    1. Do I need to buy another OS, or can I just use the code included with my PC? (On the bottom of the Notebook)
    2. How do I know if I have turbo memory? This is so I know which driver to install.
    3. Are there any current problems assoicated with 64 bit and the m1530? Hardware Compatability wise?

    My PC Specs:

    Intel T8300 Processor
    4 GB RAM
    8600M GT
    Intel Wireless N card

Thats all the Important stuff, I believe, if you need more info, just ask

    Thanks in Advance!

    1. Your 32-bit DVD key will work on 64-bit Vista. You can download an ISO of Vista (all versions retail & OEM) and install the one of your same version using that DVD key. It's technically not illegal (though there is debate about whether or not the method of obtaining it is, the actual usage of the DVD key on the OS is perfectly legal).
    2. If you're referring to Intel Turbo memory, I don't think it's in the m1530 anymore
    3. Everything *should* work, but you may (PM me for details and a special link...) have to pay for the UPEK Fingerprint reader suite on 64-bit (you can get drivers...but not the utility). And the video drivers seem to be a hit/miss kinda thing.

I saw a link on this XPS M1530 Vista 64 bit compatible drivers thread for the UPEK Suite. I downloaded it anyways, but if it's illegal, then i'll be deleting it off of my hard drive. Kinda ridiculous that I have to pay just to get a 64 bit version though.

Also, I was looking around the forums, and will Orev's ABR Utility work with the M1530? Details found in this thread:Clean Install Guide (works for 32-bit or 64-bit)

from what i've read, yur 32-bit OS registration key is the same for yur 64-bit OS. u just have to get a hold of a 64-bit OS cd (how u get ahold of it is up to u). just make sure u obtain the correct 64-bit OS that matches yur original OS.
    - IE: vista home premuim sp1 x32 ~> would have to get vista home premium sp1 x64.

and from what i know turbo memory is an extra option.

most 64-bit users are now reporting very reliable/stable operation.

i'll be doin this exact same thing in a few days. GL to ya =)

i had a quick question about this step.

i'm really not even gonna use my fingerprint reader. will NOT updatin the UPEK driver, have any affect on my system as a whole?

Actually no, that won't work...please read the site before posting the link:
