NVIDIA Drivers: How Do You Tell Which Version You Have?
Throughout the GPU cooling debates, I have seen people post the driver versions for their NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS in their M1330s.
This is, no doubt, a stupid question, but how does one ascertain which driver version is installed on your laptop? When I go to Computer > System Properties > Device Manager > Display Adaptors > (right-click 8400M GS) > properties > Driver > , I see the following for my driver version: 7.15.11.5669 (from 4/10/2007). How does that translate into the "167.xx" or "175.xx" drivers that people are mentioning in the forums?
Apologies for the stupid question - just cannot figure this one out!Current: Aluminium Macbook | 2.4GHz C2D | 4GB DDR3 RAM | 128GB SSD | NVIDIA GeForce 9400m | OS X Leopard

Open Nvidia Control Center/Panel whatever. You will have a tab on the bottom left corner. Something like system information. Can't remember exactly, my laptop broke down before I got aquainted with Nvidia
. Click on that you and you will get the info required

Download GPU-z for all gpu info.
Or you can go device manager and look at the gpu driver version (the last 5 digits)

Re: NVIDIA Drivers: How Do You Tell Which Version You Have?
@wishmaker: I don't believe I have an NVIDIA control centre.
@flipfire: as I said, I have already looked in the device manager, and it shows a driver version of 7.15.11.5669. How does that square with the convention, in these forums, of naming drivers like "167.xx", etc?Current: Aluminium Macbook | 2.4GHz C2D | 4GB DDR3 RAM | 128GB SSD | NVIDIA GeForce 9400m | OS X Leopard

Re: NVIDIA Drivers: How Do You Tell Which Version You Have?
@wishmaker: most probably. I did a clean install when I received the laptop, and deliberately left out as much as I could (hey, I only have 64GB to play with!)
In any event, I did download GPU-z, and it shows my driver version is 156.69. Thanks all.Current: Aluminium Macbook | 2.4GHz C2D | 4GB DDR3 RAM | 128GB SSD | NVIDIA GeForce 9400m | OS X Leopard

Re: NVIDIA Drivers: How Do You Tell Which Version You Have?
I have a question about this, I ran Dx-Diag and DirectX mentions that I'm using 6.14.0011.6921 and I have the install file for drivers 181.22 these are not the same drivers, correct ?
Doesn't nVidia have some notification for when new drivers come out they notify you via email or something ? The only problem with that is that sometimes the newest drivers can cause problems.
