    hey everyone,

Just got my 1530 an hour ago and i LOVE it! however, it does have the samsung screen (SEC), which im not happy about. The screen does look gritty and grainy, and it doesnt seem to be as vibrant as it should be. my system sheet online told me the product number was W345C but now when I open up my device manager it says i have an SEC 3157.

I plan on using this laptop for a while so I guess I'll go through the whole process of getting an LG =[

any tips? What model numbers are the LGs that I should ask for?

I also got my 1530 an hour ago and I have the samsung screen as well. The model is w345c and I also see some graininess. The screen is also pretty dim. I will be calling dell to get the panel replaced.

The screen you are talking about has a different part/model number, but unfortunately has the same problems..
Too bad, I was hoping that the 'V2' samsungs would be better :\

The thing about dell is that they keep telling me they can only change out the LCD to the same exact one i have.

How am I suppose to go around this?

Tell them that if so, you will return the laptop and re-order..

My screen is a 1680x1050 SEC3350(Samsung) and I still love it. I don't know if there is a bad part number or not, but if you do get a Samsung don't automatically assume that it's crap.

For those of you that just recently got the system what size screen did you order? Mine should arrive sometimes next week I even changed from 1680x1050 to 1440x900 to reduce the chance of getting Samsung, I was hoping that the newer units will all come with LG....guess not.

From what I have seen if you have a Samsung assume you have a poor quality LCD. You like yours, good for you.

So how are your viewing angles on your great Samsung?

yea mines a 1440x900 and its a samsung. Its not terribly bad, but theres grain, and even worse, its not bright enough.

since im getting major keyboard flex, ill get the screen changed at the same time.

Also, does anyones remote stick out slightly when its in the laptop? i dont think its normal.

Well I just got my Dell M1530 with 1680 x 1050 truelife display on Wednesday.

Unfortunately, its the crappy SEC3350. It's so grainy that images, websites, text, videos and DVD playback look absolute rubbish. The viewing angle is the worst I've ever seen.

Yesterday I rang tech support and jumped through all the hoops. I told them what they wanted to hear and they said they could replace the screen. I then told the tech that I wanted an XK309, and he checked with warehouse and said that this wasn't available as they were completely out of stock due to a production shortage, and they could only replace it with another SEC3350 or return the laptop for a refund.

I bid him farewell and decided to ring back this morning.

Got ANOTHER tech who was fully aware of the problems with the SEC3350, as soon as I mentioned grainy he told me "hold on for a bit, I'll check with the warehouse to see what we can replace it with".

He came back after 10 minutes and also told me that he was checking for XK309 stock, but they are completely out due to a problem with the production (which is what the tech told me the previous day!).

He told me he was sending out an NX380, which is the AUO screen. He also told me that if I wasn't happy with this, phone back and we'll go from there.

So I'll see on Tuesday how good it is, because thats when the tech is coming to replace it

Anyone here have experience with the AUO NX380 screen???
