Default Do all XPS M1330s Overheat?

I Guess I've had a bit of bad luck with my new M1330 so now I've got 2 options: Get a refund or have it replaced.

Spec: T7500, 2GB DDR2, 8400 GS, 160 GB HDD, WLED Screen.

Originally my XPS couldn't access its L2 cache and consequently ran painfully slow. Dell sent a technician who replaced the mainboard, CPU, and RAM. That fixed the original fault but now I've got an overheating problem.

When the laptop was in pieces I noticed the CPU GPU (8400 GS) and Chipset share a single heat pipe and thought that was lot of heat for one pipe and a tiny fan, looks like I was right.

Anyway I keep getting various application errors and blue screens. It runs for just minutes under stress and even older games are unplayable (before it locks up.)

I tried updating drivers / fresh vista install / even installed XP but no joy.

Under stress the CPU temps jump quickly to ~ 84 degrees C and it throttles down to its lowest setting. The GPU jumps even quicker to 105 degrees C. Strangely the fan doesn’t often reach full speed?

I'd really appreciate it if any M1330 owners would let me know if they have problems with overheating / throttling. If I get a replacement from dell and that throttles down under load I don't think it would be much use for gaming so I may as well get a refund?

Yes. My M1330 initially had CPU whining and then later started overheating to such an extent that it could burn my skin. Dell has just got my notebook back. Awaiting for a refund!

Yes that cpu whine sounds familiar. Since the component change it whines so loud my dog gets scared as it boots up.

If you're M1330 is not overheating download the intel TAP program and see if the processor is throttling. Mine was throttling constantly on the AC adapter and as a result it didn't overheat but my 2.2Ghz processor would only run at 1.6Ghz when both cores were fully loaded.

Well,

I have been rocking COD4 on my 1330 and, funny as it may seem, it runs cooler than my M1710....
