Here comes DELLs xps m1730
Warning , the following link contains hard to watch pictures of the upcoming DELL xps m1730 .
http://notebookitalia.it/dell-xps-1730-in-arrivo.html
The bad news is that this monstrosity is real and coming by the end of the month . Rumors have it that everyone with "its a photoshop" post will get rep points deducted .
The good news is that we get another XPS logo on the underside , DELL is working on the m1740 keyboard which will consist only of 'X' 'P' & 'S' keys .
I'm almost sure it will have dual HDs but can only see 1 cover , the subwoofer is missing as well from the bottom .
It may no be pretty but at least you get lots of it , thick , +5kg and with a 230W brick will make your "old" 9400 and m1710 look like a thin and light . On the bright side it seems to have a very good cooling design .
To be fair most santa rosa 17" notebooks are somewhat over inflated , I'm not sure its a good idea to trade-in your 9400/m1710 just yet .Last edited by gilo; 12th August 2007 at 03:16 AM. Reason: I'm blind

Re: Here comes DELLs xps m1730
I dont get it. Its an ugly design, and ugly color AND its heavy/bulky.
Maybe it is a decoy to mislead rivals, hoping that HP, Gateway, Acer, Toshiba, Fujitsu, and Sony all scramble to produce something similar, so afterwards they can point, laugh and say "Hah! Gotcha!"My Inspiron 1520:
Blue, WSXGA+, T7300, 8600mGT, 2gb Ram, 160gb 7200rpm HD, Vista Premium, BT, Webcam, Audigy Sound, Wifi-N, DVD R/W, 2Yrs+Accidental Damage
Ordered 7/7, Received 8/16 Stolen 10/1
Recovered via Lojack on 1/27

Re: Here comes DELLs xps m1730
I don't understand how this and the m1330 share the same branding. Nor do I honestly believe that this is a final product. Given the sheer volume of orders and Dells inability to meet demand on the m1730's smaller brethren, it simply makes no business sense whatsoever that they would throw away potential custom with a larger design so incredibly vulgar.
Plus, I'm fairly confident that I watched a video about the m1330 on Youtube with it's designer, admittedly it was a shockingly bad promo of little real substance, but the connection was made between the m1330, m2010 and the future direction of the line.
If the same guy behind those model aesthetics is behind this one, as I believe he might be, this cannot be legit.
...
Here's to hoping.
