Dell Problem update - Thread Continuation 9-8-2007 update
Hey all,
Well, I got a satisfying answer, but the real problem was not really addressed.
Why the first sales guy said that the Inspiron line was going to be discontinued:
The Response: It's not going too be so much discontinued as re-branded. It's going too be more like the Vostro line of computers with the online backup option included for files. Take that as you will.
The Solution: He was originally going too have us return it and set up a new order, but rather than wait a month again for a new one too ship out, he is now checking with the first guys manager too figure out A)If our current graphics card can handle a Blu-Ray Drive (Geoforce 7900) and B)If/When he can ship out the Blu-Ray drive himself. I told him I saw online that it was really easy too switch out the drives and I could do it here, not so sure about the graphics card.
But we never really did get the issue addressed as too why the Blu-Ray drive and Verizon Wireless got mucked up in the first place and was never on the order, it wasn't so much avoided as he didn't really bring it up on the return phone call. So long as we can get the parts needed sent out free, then all will be right with the world
.
We'll keep you updated.. Glad I may not have gotten as scammed as I thought I did..Last edited by Shredder; 8th September 2007 at 05:13 PM.

Re: Dell Problem update - Thread Continuation
Just a quick update...
Rather than get the customer care people involved and wait another week too find out if we can do what we need to do, we arranged for a return and it will be picked up on Monday. Unfortunatley, Dell Financing for Business can not be used on a home purchase, so we may use the Home Fincancing option too pay it off... This time for the correct Inspiron 1720..

Re: Dell Problem update - Thread Continuation
I was thinking about it, but since the old thread hadn't gotten any new replies, figure it might not be a bad idea too start a new one so people know there are updates...
Anyway, more of an update. The XPS got picked up today for a return, and that part is done. Now we've just gotta see if the right order can get setup and done online and get here correctly

Re: Dell Problem update - Thread Continuation
ok well after 8 weeks of hardship i'm writing from my new xpsd m1330. there seems to me no mjor flaws, no wobble, perfect build quality all around, no gap with the screen showing teeth, yhe only thing that's troubling me, is that compared to my first xps m1330 it's less quiet. (this is a replacement with an led). it's constantly processing something, and the fan came on after only like 15 minutes, whereas my previous one was silent 90% of the time!!! any way to fix this? clean install maybe?

Re: Dell Problem update - Thread Continuation
When I had it, the XPS was slow with the factory install vista. Fresh install started it running fast right away. Can't remember the fan.
BTW, anyone spot any new $250 off Inspiron Notebook or % off Dell purchase coupons? I can't find any that match the inspiron line.
Thanks
Neil

Re: Dell Problem update - Thread Continuation
Oh, and we also found out that he is indeed a business salesman. That might explain why the original guy set me up with a Dell XPS on the business side. But he still outright lied when he claimed too find one that had a blu drive and told us the invoice was not incorrect and everything we ordered was there..
Anyway, the XPS is now gone, and we are going too wait for a coupon till we purchase the new one
