Re: Dell Precision M4700 and M6700 - Preliminary Info
The one thing that still makes me sad is no natural support for 2 2.5" drives in the 4700
Dell Precision M6600
17.3" 1920x1080 Anti-Glare // Intel i7-2860QM // AMD FirePro M8900 // Kingston HyperX 16 GB DDR3 1600Mhz RAM // Samsung 830 256GB SSD // Mushkin Chronos Deluxe 240GB SSD // Seagate Momentus XT 500 GB SSD/HDD // Crucial m4 256GB mSATA SSD
Sony Vaio SVZ13
13.1" 1600x900 // intel i5-3210M // intel HD 4000 // 6 GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM // 256GB SSD

Re: Dell Precision M4700 and M6700 - Preliminary Info
I really hope AMD card will be better than what I see on websites. Alienware 18x gets top consumer model with all bells and whistles (for mobile game card). Probably pro card should be similar, like in 6600 case.
GCN+4GB+10bit output+switching (if IV will be able to output 10bit, or sort of). More and more Photo/Video/3D/CAD/FEA packages are taking advantage of GPGPU, so AMD/DELL shouldn't miss it.

Sorry but I have to ask. How does anyone know whether that list of specs is not just a rumour, spam or just wishful thinking?
I must admit I have never heard of the site it is featured on before this thread was started.Dell Precision M6600: i7-2720QM, 16GB 1600MHz HyperX RAM (4x4GB), FHD (1920x1080) LED-backlit LCD Panel, 1 x 256GB SATA III SSD, 1 x 240GB Kingston HyperX SATA III SSD, Windows 7 Pro 64-Bit, Nvidia Quadro 4000M.
Sony Vaio Z 128 GG: i7 M620 @ 2.67 GHz, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, Nvidia GeForce GT300M, 1920x1080, Windows 7 Pro 64-Bit.
Semi-Retired: Dell Studio XPS 1645: i7 Q720 @ 1.60 GHz, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, ATI Mobility Radeon HD4670, 1920x1080, Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit, 130W Adapter (after 90W).

Re: Dell Precision M4700 and M6700 - Preliminary Info
What do you think about AMD Heathrow XT graphics option (real name not available yet) in Dell Precision M6700?
Will It be new FirePro based on 7990M ?
Because Thames XT is reserved for 7970M, Info:

Cool. Excited about seeing the improvements, but still feel awesome about my recent m4600 purchase as I dont think its going to be that big of an improvement.

Re: Dell Precision M4700 and M6700 - Preliminary Info
Any idea of the looks of it or when it will be available?
Running a m4500 for the moment that I will never be able to make friends with, the same for the m4400 that also were a nightmare.
Apart from that most of my Precsions have been a joy to work with. My m4300 for intance could run on battery for 8,5 hours, what a champ!_______________________________________________
Current setup: Dell M4700
