Re: New Precision replacement for M6600 to come?
I too wish they will return back to 1200 for vertical resolution (AR:16x10). It's a workstation for god sake, not a TV set. Working with documents (including source codes and other developments) I need vertical space more then horizontal. I have old monitors, bought more then 10 years ago, that all have 20% more of vertical space, then the new and inferior 1080...

Second, I hope they will keep arrow keys separated from the rest. They're important for all kinds of work with documents (and not only). Don't follow the crowd (like latest HP EliteBooks) and make them crumpled (two arrow keys in one raw). That was one of the main reasons why I turned away from HP... Please don't do that, Dell.

Re: New Precision replacement for M6600 to come?
If u have a chance to see the IPS on m6600 in person, you will def see the difference.
RGBLED panels in the 1645 were not very good.
This premiercolor IPS panel is stunning.
Its funny too because dell states that regarding m6600 panels the WLED panel had more nits than the IPS but that is false.
I had a m6400 covet with the rgbled e2e screen and that was dim and garbage also. Sammy doesnt make great nb displays except for their new superbright plus displays.
Oh and as far as 16:10 vs 16:9 -- the quicker u get over it the better. The industry has been cutting glass 16:9 for almost evrything for years now so it makes sense financially too phase out the older 16:10 format. It aint coming back and im shocked apple has managed to go this long without changing (then again, the mbp 17 is super $$$$ and im sure they charge you for that 16:10 cut TN panel
DELL Precision M6600 - i7-2760QM - nVidia QUADRO 3000M - 17.3" PremierColor IPS RGBLED - 4GB - 320GB

Re: New Precision replacement for M6600 to come?
Some more items in my wish list for the new upcoming Precision:
-- ability to switch from external graphic card to internal graphic controller for all cards, not only for nVidia. The new IB processor now has significantly improved graphic support. Intel HD Graphics 4000 supports DirectX 11, 4096 x 4096 resolution on a single monitor and provides support for three displays. Mac will use it for Retina-level displays. I wish Dell could offer something similar too.
-- due to the new tri-gate transistor technology power consumption of CPU could be reduced up to 50%. I wish Dell will use it to our advantage and make new power adapters, smaller and easier to carry with laptop. It's not a fun to carry 210-240W big and heavy brick with laptop everywhere you go...
-- I wish they will cut 1" from both its sizes (screen allows it) and make it a bit thinner. But that's just a wish...
